View Full Version : Rant On - Squad and/or Outfit invites
I know this topic has been beaten to death... But if you play TR on Markov, and you're a pushy squad/outfit leader... then:
PLEASE STOP INVITING ME!!
If I /tell you and politely say "no thank you, I'm okay for now," then please respect my decision to go solo and stop spamming me.

This should be on the emerald/markov forum, thanks.

I just wish LFS was NOT on by default. Or at least when I change it, it should save my settings after I log off so that every single time I load up the game I dont get invites before I can turn it off.
I will make a outfit and squad and invite you constantly now! JK

I thought it was off by default... and does read your last setting.
Rayder-
I must be doing something wrong then... Because even though I turn it off every day, it keeps coming back to LFS.
Not like it matters... people STILL invite even if LFS is off... which leads me to this rant... If I forget to turn LFS off, then that's my bad... But if some schmuck is spamming me invites with LFS turned off and I've already told them NO once, then it borders on harassment.
Worst thing is... squad invites almost always come right after I've racked up a bunch of kills... and I'm still in the middle of a bunch of NMEs... And I can't resist the urge to turn off mouse lock to say "NO"... which then of course gets me killed since I'm not reacting to my environment...

I feel you. I get so many squad and outfit invites it really, really makes me mad. I don't mind the squad invites, my character is maxed so I'm more than happy to join squads. However, when peolpe send me outfit invites I just want to snap. If they're at least kind enough to ask me to join them I am kind enough to rationally explain myself and offer to work with them in the future, but a random invite and I just lose any respect for them.

i think you have to press that LFS button on the chat box, and yes, i do invite people that dont say LFS above their head because some don't know how, but i'll stop

I only play when I head over to a friends house (hour and half away)....but thier is nothing more annoying than !@#$'n invite spam...particularly in the middle of a huge massive killing spree battle...backpacks...or as of late, presents everywhere. The spam was particularly bad New Years Day as this was a brand new character...first time for VS.
So to remedy the situation...I say yes and just ignore them for the rest of the game. When we get booted or take a continent...then I look in the chat box to see where all the action is.

You can always just type /no for the squad invites, easier than turning off mouse lock anyhow. It doesn't work for outfit invites, though, and I'm not sure what the syntax is to decline an outfit invite in the text box.
I don't mind squad invites for the most part, even when I have solo clicked, as long as it's a single invite. Invite me more than once and I'm less happy. You're right about it being the worst possible time, though. I'm always dumbfounded that while I'm doing everything possible to stay alive a few more seconds some other dork had the time to type /invite whoever. I'd much rather you take the time to shoot the dude coming up behind me then invite me to your squad, but I guess we have different priorities.
As for outfit invites, those are just annoying as hell. If I'm not in a squad with you then don't bother sending an outfit invite. If we're working together well and it seems like I'm being invited because we've had a good time and you like the way I play, that's one thing. Spamming any warm body with an outfit invite doesn't impress me, or make me want to join. The only time any of my characters joins an outfit is a) after I've squadded with members a time or two and had fun, and/or b) Their outfit name is really funny.
Shallow, I know. But that's me, and since your outfit name doesn't show up on the invite your chances aren't real good.

Got to bump this. I run a couple of outfit less characters on Markov and I am constantly getting spamed with outfit invites. I mean, give it a rest all. I have one outfit I am with, and intend to stay with them because we have fun. I don't have the time or inclination to join another outfit, especially one that spam invites. It is bad enough to see outfit broadcast ads during a battle. That stuff needs to be left in sanctuary where it belongs.

LFS is on by default because most people dont know its there, there should just be a way to ignore squad/outfit invites all together

Upon arriving in Sanc after logging in (I always recall unless I crash), my first act is to turn off the LFS button by clicking it. Then after that, I type "/o LFS" because my battle buddies are always on and I can always get a squad from my outfit- which is the point of joining a friggin' outfit.
