What server do you plan on playing on? (East coast US, West coast US, or Europe?)

I play on Emerald (the east coast server) and there are lots of people playing since they merged the servers. There are usually multiple battles going on on multiple continents.

They did take away any population indicators on the servers, so we can't really tell how many people play other than observation.

Yeah sony are well known for sabotaging their own buisness by implating viruses into their software...

You either
a) had a virus already and it meerly reached it's activation date. (christmas/new year. good time for virus activation)
b) downloaded from a thrid party location which aren't very trustworth
c) you have no such virus and you're pc is just acting up for no reason.

If it really is blaster, which it sounds, you have no excuse. The fix has been out almost six months now.

restarting when? and did it give a message? cause pentiums are known to restart if they overheat.

Ive had that with windows before (not blaster, you get an error with the blaster worm, and it's damn easy to remove)

But...

YOU HAVEN'T TOLD US WHAT THE PROBLEM IS
"it keeps restarting" sounds nothing like a virus, just windows being a bitch as per usual

Next time you boot, try pressing F8 on the loading bit (the little white bar that goes along the bottom, not the pretty picture one) and choose last known good configuration, or if that doesn't work, try starting in safe mode, shut it down for a few mins, then restart normally. Windows has done a reset whore like that on me and thats how I fixed it.

Sorry for anger, tired, hungover and in pain...

not really. It was just a matter of the shutdown -a command to stop it untill you get the fix.

Well if he told us when it shutdown, then we would know!

If he gets an RPC error, then its the blaster worm... if its randomly restarting in the middle of windows - overheating, if it fails to start and just restarts - bad ram/windows screwing up/all number of possibilities

Culkid dude, tell us when it restarts and we can help

I had the blaster worm too, it was a pain in the ass. What you had sounds just like it. And yeah the fix has been out for quite some time now...

It was either a bad d/l or windows being a bitch during installation. Have had both happen to me. ALso, you will get errors when the patcher starts to work sometimes. Just happens. Best fix is to blow out the sony directory, then d/l again. If it was a virus, then you need to post the specifics, like which one it was, where you d/l'd from and how you cleaned it. That way, you could warn the rest of us.
