And whenever i try to hack into enemy towers the same thing happends. When i try to enter a freindly tower same thing... so i try to stay away from any towers... which sucks cuz i cant capture them! :scared: every time my computer freezes i get a BIG windows error message that says that one of my drivers or something is causing my system to be unstable! what the heck! please frikin help me. im gunna install a new ge-force 4 video card. and the continents take forever to load... please what is wrong with my computer??

Go to either www.omegacorner.com or www.nvidia.com and download the latest drivers for your video card.

BTW: How much RAM do you have?

undetected
2004-01-05, 08:34 AM
im not sure... i dont think i have alot
i know that will fix the problem with level loading but im more worried about the sudden crashes

dscytherulez
2004-01-05, 10:45 AM
Well, yes RAM definately will help with the loading times, but depending on how much you have it might be the cause of the crashing. Anything below 512mb might cause some problems. Did you install those drivers? Any change at all?

Rbstr

I could be a driver problem(most likely), or a hardware problem too, Definatly try the Nvidia stndard 53.03's they are very stable from my use of them. Also try to get the specs of your computer to the best of your abilities

2004-01-05, 11:35 PM
Well with that sorta money I dont think you can do much. Perhaps an extra stick of 256mb of ram? With a new graphic card and 512mb of ram you should be able to run PS on low settings. Then again you have an e-machine so the ram will probably be like PC800. Which sucks ass. Avoid areas with large amounts of players.

A sledge hammer is a large hammer I enjoy using to beat the shit outta my cat with every time it bites my leg.

Is the computer YOURS? Do you know how to open one up? Do you have a manual for it. Maybe we can find out what you can upgrade it to or suggest a cheap motherboard and ram to fix it up. But we have to find out exactly what is on your comp. You can probly get something sufficient for very cheap. And then maybe we can figure a way to tell you how to install it. Maybe it will give you good edge on computer jobs in the future. Or give you the obsession most of us got to get us into computers.

Being 12 has never stopped people in hte past from figuring this stuff out.

ok well you wont find my model on the e machines site because their assholes and they never update... my dad opened up my computer yesterday and told me that i would be able to cram alot of crap in there... and i just found out that i dont have a video card in my system already, i just have an onboard video thing built into my motherboard..
BUT
im gunna install a new video card as soon as my dad calls the e machines toll free number so they can hopefully tell him how to disable the onboard video so he can install my new video card...
SO
my model number is D2246
it came with win. xp pro installed and an antivirus
i disabled the antivirus before i installed planetside... (or at least my dad did)
ive tried reinstalling
and even without my new video card the graphics are good...
and they actually looked better when i tuned down the settings...
and im not stupid... i figured out what was wrong with my computer when i used to play halo (and still do :) )
as soon as i learn exactly what i have in my computer i will tell you
ill probably know by tonight on Jan 6th

Just remember the best thing you can do is get one gig of ram right now, or as close as possible. Its not as expensive as you would think. Tell you dad to get your motherboard specifications down to a T. We need number of ram slots type of ram ram speeds supported etc. And how much ram you have now in waht amounts(do you have one chip with 256 or mulitples of others now), and what speed ram you have now. Type includes how many pins, and what the PC type is(PC133, PC 3200, PC 2700, PC2000, etc.) which will also tell us the speed etc. But we need to know what you motherboard can support in both how much you can add and what speeds you can use so we have a broader sense of what to look at to look for it or tell you more about what you can get.

If you ahve 248 im guessing you ahve like 3 chips getting you that far 8( If you do it wont support 1 gig from what i know. You might want to build a new comp. You can build or maybe even referbish what you have very cheap. You have a hard drive video card adn probly something else to throw in like maybe a power supply. For one it can depend on what of your current comp you can take out. Is the proccessore removable 8) you can take hardrives, try the new vid card and then get one later if its not good enough. Ill make one on a low end 800mhz bus. This is all form newegg.com this is nowhere near as cheap as you can get it.

800mhz Processors 2.4 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-116-157&catalog=343&depa=1 164$

800mhz Motherboards Abit PT800 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-127-163&catalog=280&depa=1 65.99

Memory 333mhz 1 gig http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-433&catalog=147&depa=1 211$

441$(motherboard, ram, new 800mhz processor)

Just hook up your harddrive and vid card or whatever and you have a new comp. You can do this alot cheaper than this too. If you just get teh motherboard and hte ram and you can swap your processor in it you may be set. (277$ Motherboard, ram)

The motherboard is the main thing you need to get and is nice adn cheap 8) It wont support 2100 ram though.

If your old processor isnt removable you can get another one for 66 dollars instead of the 800mhz one above http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-112-175&catalog=343&depa=1

That puts you at 343$ (Motherboard, ram, new 2.2celron)

This is unless theres soemthing about an e-machine that wont let you put it in the case?

And the difference between the 2.4 and higher 800mhz processors isnt much so here are some more for almost the same price.

2.6 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-116-159&catalog=343&depa=1 174$ lol look at the price rise ^^
2.8 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-116-161&catalog=343&depa=1 214$
3.0 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-116-156&catalog=343&depa=1 300$ this is the cutoff probly on neweggs site for what your going to spend

so if you are getting a new processor spend the extra 40 dollars on the 2.8

That mobo might not fit the emachines case, some major comp manufacturers have their own standards slightly different from atx, and they have special oem mobos made, then make their own cases, you should check just to be safe.

You just want him to get an AMD 8\

Mine is better and i was using higher end ram as an example so yea its more expensive. Dont try to pull cheap crap like that :p ;)

And he doesnt really need a new Procesor i was just offering the price of upgrading to 800mhz.(unless his processor doesnt come off) IN which case another one is only 62$

400/533/800mhz MoBo ABIT 865PE http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-127-156&catalog=280&depa=1 86.99

Corsair 1gig (2x512) http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-480&catalog=147&depa=1 151$ hes better off not buying 4 chips and get something he can realy upgrade later.

238$ If you cant transfer your procesor then its 300 on the dot for another celron 2.2.
My system can be easily upgraded to a pentium 3.2 4gigs etc. He has more options with intel. And it is easier for him to upgrade the ram this way, he wont have to replace any thing to get more.

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-112-177&catalog=343&depa=1 62$ 2.2 celron
If you want to get a beter celron
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-112-179&catalog=343&depa=1 82$ 2.5
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-112-178&catalog=343&depa=1 90$ 2.6
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-112-180&catalog=343&depa=1 107$ 2.7
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-112-181&catalog=343&depa=1 126$ 2.8

And i think your system cost 233$ not 196$? he needs a gig and he can get it for 41$ a chip at newegg.com. Even at 41 chip, with 1 gig it will cost 307$.

AMD's are fine and they generaly outpreform the pentiums at the lower end of things. Cell's aren't all that bad, there a p4 with half the cache and a slower fsb but i don't have that much lower performance than someone with a p4 2.4 would have

Ait'al, its easier to take advice from someone who actually uses the stuff they talk about ya know. I know quite a bit of stuff from just reading on the net and stuff, but I know ALOT more bc I actually have been buying, building, and using all this stuff for a very long time. If you haven't been into the 'scene' since the 486 days, you missed alot and thats why you prolly only trust intel. Those of us who got shafted left and right by intel during much of the late 90's on the other hand have very different feelings.

Ha, I must have missed that. I'm usually in a blood thirsty killing frenzy 99% of the time that I play.

Ait the 5900 is suposed to be on the 9800's level but the 9800 is better than in in jsut about everything, but its more expensive, and besides that 5900 can be flashed up to a 5950 wich is just about as good as a 9800pro.

the reason you can make it OC higher is becasue it ups the voltages to the memory and GPU, i'm tyring to find out if i can flahs my 5600 to an 5600ultra for the same results(not expecting to much but it could help)

Computers suck at adding. Or at least DirectX isn't very accurate all the time when obtaining your amount of RAM.

508 is how much he has free not his total ram. Or he meant to say 512?

well lot of things are represented like a gig of memory not realy being a gig but 1024, a 3mbps connection thats running exceptabaly at 200k (from when my modem when out, they had me take a speed test and they said the speed was within the acceptable speeds) and HD manufacturers got sued just last year for saying 40 gb even though it was 39.99 and so on
