After much trial and error i finally fixed my sound (Creative 7.1 & Sounblaster2). But now I have another problem...The speaker settings reset after every shutdown/restart. The either go to quad speakers or desktop speaker (usually quad), and I manually have to change it to 7.1 when I start up. Can I keep this from happening somehow?

Technically the sb that I have only supports 6.1, but all speakers play. Well, I dunno if my center does, guess I'll hafta check but it doesn't really make a difference anyway. I just wanna make it default to 7.1 every time I start my comp back up.

A SB2? Wtf thats insane heh. Not sure if there is much you can do. I doubt creative has up to date software for that board or does their current software cover it also? Prolly just to old.

Eh? I just wanna know how to default the speaker settings to 7.1 so I don't hafta change them every time I turn on my comp! *cries*

What's insane about an SB2?

Its what, 10 yrs old atleast isn't it? Also if it doesn't save it automatically already thats your problem, its not something you have to do to make it do it. If it worked properly it would already. I hate creative's drivers though, damn software bundle is way to much overhead.

Lol, Audigy 2 man. Sorry I guess I should be more specific but cmon, lol. It has nothing to do with the SB software. I'm talking about the control panel->speaker settings. They reset, if this didn't happen it would work right.

I dunno if its one or the other but SB Speaker settings (software) also resets to 4.1. I figured if I could fix the control panel one it would correct the software one, or is it the other way around?

Cmon, this sounds like an easy problem to me, I just don't know too much about soundcards, not my field. Anything else I could probably fix myself but...someone has got to have a solution. Is there a place to force it to not reset on startup?

Um, yes, every night. I sleep right next to it...and it being custom built its not the quietest thing in the world. Not to mention its bad to leave your comp on 24/7
