View Full Version : Air Vehicle Idea

I was thinking that it would be interesting to create an aircraft similar to the galaxy in size but use it for assault rather than transport. If you took away all of the passenger and vehicle positions and added a few more gunner positions then this could be a real asset to a battle. Add maybe four more gunner spots that would be located on the main body of the gal but one would ahead of the wing mount and the other behind. This would be more more of an air to ground attack that could support infantry from above. This would be part of either the existing Air Support cert (gal, lode, and liberator) or a new cert that got you the liberator as well since they serve similar purposes.

Anyways its just an idea so give me your thoughts

What would be better is high altitude bomber instead of a assault type of bomber (Liberator). A bigger bulky put way more powerful bomber as big as Galaxy that could drop Plasma or other kinds of heavy bombs, littering the field with shrapnel. But it would be no fun if it could create lots of unfun work for ground forces, but thats why its slow and vunerable. Just an idea for you guys.

Thats a good idea. Mabye you could add a couple of rocket luanchers and anti vehicle cannons. It would be like the C-12 Hercules(Gunship). But it can still hold vehicles.

Not until they've made a smaller air transport that doesn't require a dropship center to access.

well if it could cary vehicles thats waaaaaaaay to over powered, but its an interesting idea, but like the devs said they dont want the game to get to air orianted (sp) and i agree (even thought iam a reaver pilot) i think it would have to be implemented in a later expansion, or muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch later patch

Even if its slow and vulnerable, at high altitudes it could only be attacked by aircraft because of the cloud cover as well as the ceiling for aircraft being 4000m which is well out of the range of infantry. A bomber like this would be to powerful and the liberator already has two types of bombs that are made for different targets.

Anyways , about my earlier idea (Hercules type aircraft):

To keep the game from becoming to air oriented they could introduce a heavy tank at the same time as the the assault galaxy and even add in a longer range AA rocket or missile or some other type of weapon to balance it out such as making it visble on everyones radar and allowing gun turrets to target and shoot at it accurately from longer ranges or even a new turret that has the said abilities that is only on bases but not towers

its not that hard to shoot down an aircraft.

And you most definently have to be in harms way in a reaver or skeeter, a lib isn't that hard to reach, and if it is at the flight ceiling its easy to doge the bombs

Aprox 2x the size of the liberator
Special ability: Fastload Ropes.

The nebula is a fast, moble VTOL troop insertion platform. Featuring bench seats mounted on the side of the airframe, this vehicle is better suited to covert ops (especially post-force dome because you can now hot drop in) and light troop insertions. Troops on the bench can fire any pistol, MA, or sniper weapon. (no HA/AV/SA) Gunners actually stand behind two open hatches and use mounted machineguns (the harasser's old gun before it got attached to the roof), and the ballgunner follows the liberator.

It's special ability is activated when the pilot comes to a motionless stop at under 300 ft. He presses the deploy button, and down on the ground, a boarding circle appears for any empty passenger benches (Cannot board the tailgun as such, and God help you if you try and get in a pilotless vehicle.) Apon activation, a quick "boarding" style cinimatic plays of the rope extending and attaching to the boardee. He is then hoisted up (control is returned to him, and can fire as he is being lifted) and eventually attached to the bench when he completes the trip. The pilot is informed when someone is being lifted, and cannot undeploy until everyone is onboard and no lifting actions are in progress.

Crew, including gunners, can be hit independently of vehicle.

Check out the Air Delliverer thread, the Assult AD and Specops AD are basicaly liek that, but i think they will work better, the fast rope thing would be cool but very hard to implement and i doubt shooting out is alowed by the game engine

i recently thought of another way to keep this air vehicle from becoming to powerful. the weapons would be disabled above a certain altitude or just lower the ceiling for this vehicle.

the gal is the sunderer of air where is the deliverer of air? my idea:5 person 3 gunners 1 gun for air to air, two for ground targets 2 passenger seats, no max places, no vehicle space, fast and faster with afterburners

WHy does there have to be an air mirror of every ground vehicle? Thats like having a lear passenger jet jsut because you have a toyota camry.
