on /B chat today someone sayd they wher gone put in more BR and CR in the game whit the new expansoion(cant spell) pack.... it this true? havent seen anything on the planetside.com side :confused:

Another expansion? The only one so far is Core COmbat, they didn't ahve anything like that in that one.

They shouldn't make that an expansion, I wouldn't pay for another one unless it was REALLY good.

It's probably just a rumor and you wouldn't see anything like that on the website because they just released Core Combat they aren't going to release another expansion after like 3 months.

They have said that they will not be increasing BR and CR. However they are working on a system of maybe earning other rewards beyond BR20 and CR5. And there has been no news of a new expansion any time soon at all.

firstly y add expansions? when they cud just add massive patches! expansions make or break a game! in core combats case it broke it. if ppl brought cc it wud be gd tho!

Hello Ogge.

SOE have shot themselves in the foot, destroying any chance of future addons with the total failure of CoreComat. No-one will trust them again to shell out another �30.
UNLESS...
They get more resources working on the game. It COULD get bigger, better, and more profitable, and if they do it properly another addon COULD make it. Rewarding those who took the time to get to BR20 CR5 by offering them the chance to pay more to get higher abilities is downright blackmail. Of course we'll pay. We stayed this long didn't we?

I think such a move would see alot of folk give SOE the finger and ditch planetside.

In the case of CC I was pissed at first. Then I used the flail, router, and of course the mighty Maelstrom. all and all I'm very upset anymore. but if they were to make another expansion. I think it should first be given a 7 day trial with it then they put it on the shelves.

Yeah, cause they didn't bother to balance any of the CC stuff. They're going to get mad complaints if they introduce this force dome thing that will virtually require the use of many flails. Flails are way over powered, but nobody has complained about them yet because you almost never see them. When this force dome thing hits the live servers, they will be a big problem.

They would never do that. Sony (like most other publishers) relys on hype to sell their products. Quality is just an accidental side effect that occurs now and then. Letting people find out how worthless it is before they've paid for it is not something they want to do.

They the developers. They have mentioned it multiple times, there is no single link, it's all from memory and putting devs responses together. They don't want there to be an increased BR because they want people to have diverse certs and if they increased BR then people could just have every cert.

If they come out with an expansion for, say, surface vessels and related aquatics (like SCUBA cert and Advanced SCUBA), then they could increase the BR a little more. Because I doubt you're going to fit boats into "Ground Transportation" or "Air Suport".

This is really the only drawback that I think the game has. I can honestly see no logical reasoning for capping br/cr. The fact is, even if you had every single cert in the game, you can't use them all at once. Having more certs does not make you a more effective killer than someone with less certs (implants can though). If they really want to see an increase in use of the less-used vehicles, then they should increase br. And as more people get cr5, the more chaotic it gets. I think cr levels should go much higher, and the chat/global priveleges changed accordingly. The game is going to get boring for people who are br20/cr5 unless they add something else to attain.

All i know is that there will probably be special abilities for certain things (skeeter and reaver do barrel rolls, specail hacks, etc)

I'm with you on this. I would like to know that I could eventually learn to do anything, without having to make another character or wait 24 hours to swap certs. Not like you can cram every weapon and support tool into your armor and then go driving every vehicle at the same time. Just be nice to be able to earn the cert points to have more options. I know my play style and squad needs can change from day to day.

While I don't doubt that this is true, it is a little dumb. With 61 certs required to gain every cert combination, you would have to reach br58 go have every cert. Using the current BR advancement system, that would be almost unattainable. I don't see any harm in continuing br ranks.

Agreed... also as was already mentioned, having every cert does not make you a GOD unless you were somehow able to use all of them at once... A hacking, self repairing, liberator/mosquito/flail with all 10 implants active would be a GOD :) So unless that's what SOE has in mind... no worries.

Do consider though, that fewer certs make people more reliant on their squad for teamwork. Also, higher BR is a short-term fix, unless it's really hard to reach the new cap.

Yeah, and if they give me more cert points, then maybe I'll actually find 2 or 3 free ones to get something useful to help out those low br guys. I'd actually be willing to get ground transport, ground support, etc. if they did this. I still can't see anything but good coming from raising the br level. But I do want it to be next-to-impossible to level up. I mean, br 20 wasn't even that hard. Make us work for it.

Hey, to each his own. I think everyone should get the certs that maximize their fun in the game, most importantly. If it's fun for you to drive your squad all over the map, then go for it. Personally, that bores the shit outta me. I'm a kill whore, and won't deny it, but it's fun for me. I like shooting stuff and blowing stuff up. But, I am an engineer, and am always looking for a MAX to repair, and always look for back-base gens that are blown, and go repair those. So I'm not 100% selfish, just about 99% :p
