I figured out that I have 2 slots for ram and 1 slot is filled with 1 256 chip instead of two 128's. I'm gonna call dell to find out which kind they are because I can't find any information on it. How much will a 256 ram chip cost? like 70-80 dollars?

this is hypothetical... If my computer crashes and I have the drivers but no other CD's like window's Xp and all that other important software... What happens?

OH yah and I figured out exactly what my graphics card is 64mb DDR NVIDIA GeForce 4 Ti 4200 with TV out. How will that handle planetside? and is a 40 gb hard drive considered small?

That card should be dececnt - don't expect 75 fps though.
If your computer's old enough that it only came with 128 of ram, then if probably isn't anything expensive. Probably less than your number, but definately not. If it turns out to be pc 133, I have got a deal on that stuff. I get you the "hookup".
If your comp crashes, since it's a dell, they'd probably hook you up, but if I were you, I'd try hard to get my hands on that XP cd. You'll save a lot of money in the long run with one of those.

What kind of Ram do you need? If it's not the brutal expensive stuff, then I would get 1 gig. That way it never fills up.

its 140 bucks for 512 chip and 70 for a 256

Can my computer have a 512 chip and a 256?

Oh yeah. And if it's that much, you've got DDR. Good boy. :D

Anyway, if you can afford that, then go for it. That'd be 768MB of RAM... that'll more than tide you over.

If it is DDR, I'm not sure if it has to be run in equal pairs. I' d check if I were you.

512MB Dell Dimension 4400 184 Pin PC2100 DDR DIMM (p/n 311-1325
256MB Dell Dimension 4400 184 Pin PC2100 DDR DIMM (p/n 311-1325

would those two chips match up then cuz I'm gonna buy the 512 if they do so I can have 768.

And is that good ram or shitty?

It is just lettering to specify a model and differentiate from other GeForce4s. (it is short for titanium).

A 32 Mb card can not run Planetside at this time (64 is the minimum, however they are trying to reduce the minimum requirements)

That is good ram, but I couldn't tell you if they are compatible together. Call dell.

No it isn't. Games now are requiring at least a 64 mb card. We've moved past half life and tribes and we're in a new age of graphics in games. 64mb is almost a bare minimum for games now.

BTW thought you said you had a ti4200... that's a 64 mb card...
