I'd like to see even if only for a few days..

When you hack an enemy weapon or vehicle term you get the weapons or vehicles of that empire. But only when the base is in a non-hacked status.

My logic behind this is two fold. Firstly, it'd be a change and no doubt fun. Second, it only seems logical that the matter creater aspect in the vehicle or equipment terminal would be programmed to meet the needs of the current owning empire. It really doesn't sound logical that by simply hacking into a terminal you also reprogram it to make your empires equipment. That sounds like some type of change that is made in the control room.

Ok, I got my asbestos underwear on.

i mentioned this long ago on the official forums. It was shot down because of the looting possibilities. The JH, MCG, and Lasher all have their "best uses". When you can simply walk into an enemy tower/base and load up you're locker with them, it defeats the purpose of looting (aside form medpacks and ammunition).

On the onther hand, it would be nice for vehicles considering how fast their armor goes to pieces and how rare they are to steal (tanks and buggies specifically). Due to the fact they're only available at bases, the wall turrets would have their way with them before they got out of the base also, so it wouldnt be too un-balanced.

Its more of a common sence issue than anything else. I hack you're terminal i can use you're stuff makes sence to you and me, but for a game, it doesnt fly. Also, originally when PS first came out Terminals stayed hacked, they didnt revert unless the enemies back-hacked them. Hacking terms was a better way of killing spawn tubes at first... If you look back through the leader boards to people that havnt played in a long time, they will have a very high ammount of regular armor kills.

It would be cool but it would also ruin the individuality of the empires, for that reason alone I would say no.

But it could get people to use them all for a bit and then get them to think more about the weapons best uses and get them to Use there weapons more corectly. You could also just make hacking a weapons terminla more risky in general ;) like an alarm on it specifically with some chance to go off. Not that it always would so you still have to keep watch on it wich would make people stay in the base to defend more. If they get lazy and stop defending htey diserve to spilge there weapons all over auraxis 8) if the alarm doesnt go off and send everyone coming to the rescue that is.

It would be cool, but would unbalance the game. There is a point to empire specific weapons. If you want to play with the othersides stuff, either loot it off their bodies, or create alternates in that enemies empire. That way, you can play with their stuff to your hearts content.

For me I see two opposed schools of thought here. On one hand you have a handful of empire specific items that give each empire a specific feel or style of fighting. This is at the cost of game balance. On the other hand you have the idea that everyone would have the same equipment and be different in artistic appearance/sound only. This option is at the cost of empire uniqueness.

So you can either have the aesthetic feel of empire uniqueness or game balance. I personally prefer game balance. This same logic/preference is why I play with my graphic settings turned down. I get better system performance that way. I have a choice there too. I can either have an aesthetically pleasing gaming experience where I see really pretty things killing me all the time. Or I can have a challenging gaming experience where I see a bunch of ugly things trying to kill me, but now I can react fast enough to fight back.

IMHO you can keep the eye candy and aesthetic niftiness/uniqueness. Just give me a fair and balanced gaming environment and let my enjoyment come from the challenge of overcoming my opponents in a fair fight.

The looting system is messed up. Its not possible in most big battles because the instant someone dies, their pack dissapears.

I'd like to see the equiptment that was in that pack (and all packs of nmes fallen inside a friendly soi, up to a max amount of gear) available in a public-access locker inside the base.

I really dont see how it would effect the game terribly. You'd have to make it to an enemy terminal and hack it. Not everyone is going to be able to do that...

Regardless, it wouldn't have to be a permanent fixture. But it would have been a little more interesting than santa hats and gift wrapped boxes.

This idea has been brought up so often. The only thing that makes the empires different aside from colors (the "history" in Planetside is a joke) are the differences in weaponry. For this reason alone I never want to see this idea implemented.
