I don't like the teenagers I'm surrounded with.

It happened today at rowing practice. We have to cram into two Ford E-series vans, but today we got one van and one car (we still had to cram). I got the car both times. I was standing next to the car about 20 feet away when it happened.

I was watching the van. Someone was getting in. That someone got his shorts pulled down, along with his underwear, revealing his rear end. Everyone, including that kid, was laughing, except one.

I just didn't find that act funny. I found it disgusting.

NOTE: SDM, the One Kid is me. Just so you don't get confused.

Today on Inside Edition I saw a bunch of assholes who were doing drive-by shootings with paintball guns. The assholes even blinded this hot 14 year old (I'm in the same age group, so I can say that, ok?). The assholes were laughing all the time.

This generation is lost. My generation is lost.

The school I go to, which shall remain nameless, is one of two schools in the state that is Jesuit. The Jesuits are a Catholic order, just like the Franciscans is another order. The school is all-male and difficult. Student GPAs rise when people leave- people have left with 1.Xes and called back with 3.Xes. However, as mentioned, it DID send ten graduates to Ivy League (Harvard & Co.) schools. I think the fucking hard school is worth it in the long run.

The school, though hard to get into and harder to stay in, is *not* populated by Catholic nerds like me. They need to use a dumbed-down PSAT as the entrance exam, because any idiot with cash can get in. Most of them have little care for their faith, regardless. Few show any patriotism other than saying the Pledge every day, and some even refuse to do that. Basically, take all the "gangsta" kids from your public school, give their dads a $400,000 a year salary, and they can probably make it in. A private, Catholic, and academically challenging school does NOT guarantee that the best get in.

(This was a counter to the idea that the school was populated with people like me as proposed by Spee or that they become bums on graduation as proposed by Onizuka.)

I can't give you advice at a society level, but personally, if people piss you off, just use neutral phrases like "cool, man" that show you're listening but don't wanna hear it. I mean, I do that with ViperGTS all the time :lol: Just don't give them the attention they scream for and you'll be fine. That goes doubly for women.

Further tip, once you hit sophmore, go for freshmen chicks. They're more handleable, nicer, and generally more caring imo. Just easier to understand what their deal is and how to handle them. That's my penny on women at our age.

Seriously though. Little kids are not reasonable human beings. You can't sit a 4 year old on the couch and explain the logic of why you're not supposed to play with matches and then expect them to never play with matches because of that little discussion. Most children are not mentally capable of serious logical thinking until about 8 or 9. That is different for every kid and should be judged by the parent. Until they are capable of being reasoned with, fear is an excellent way to keep the kid from hurting himself or others. The thought of being yelled at by my parents never stopped me from doing something when I was little. The thought of being spanked sure as hell stopped me from doing a lot of dumb things. And if I did something wrong and got smacked for it, I sure as hell never did it again. It's not like you have to actually hurt the kid when you use physical punishment. My parents NEVER left a bruise on me, but I always got the message loud and clear.

Todays parents are too concerned with the feelings of their child, and themselves. It never feels good to punish a child, but that does not mean they don't need to be punished. Being punished will hurt a kid's self-esteam (in the short run anyway), the child will not like it and it will not feel good, BUT THAT'S THE WHOLE FSCKING POINT OF PUNISHMENT. It's supposed to suck when you've been punished.

Dicipline is meant to teach not hurt.The act is still the same, you are threatening your child with harm. You may never actually intend to "hurt" your child, but the fact remains that they're thinking "I better not do X or daddy is gonna hurt me.
