View Full Version : Its. Not. Fscking. Possible.
Alright. On Dimmu Borgir's website, it says they have one drummer. No, if you'd be so kind as to procure an, ahem "Off-site copy" of the song, and listen to it, drumming people PLEASE tell me its not possible for ONE human to do that.
Its Norweigan Death Metal. Be forewarned, its mostly noise with some gothic nhilistic lyrics slapped onto it.
Doh. The song name is 'The Maelstrom Mephisto'

Listen to the song. Youll understand what I don't think is humanly possible.

It could have been done by overlaying multiple tracks in the studio. Most of the bands you hear these days only sound good because of the studio magic.

Talent goes a long way- Def Leppard had a one-armed drummer. He activated the other drums with foot pedals.

dude a friend had one of the shirts on. She had the one with the angel tied to the sword. looked awesome. I need to get new Cds!!!
I'm downloading the song right now. I'm a drummer myself, and i know when i hear stuff thats impossible for one person to play.
After it's done i'll let you know.
Listening to the song right now. It is possible, it's just insanely hard. Although i'm not saying he didn't overlay different parts. He could of done it either way.
Metal Drummers are fucking nuts. Seriously.

I just finished downloading that. I managed to listen to the first half before I turned it off
I'm don't actually play a drum set, but I'm a percussionist so I know a lot of people who do.
I agree with 1024, I'd say that is possible, but EXTREMLEY fucking hard. I'm guessing maybe he was using a double bass kick or something but I'm probably wrong
If he did that with no overlays, i'm positive he used a doulbe bass pedal.

Metal drummers are freaking nuts. Played in a local metal band for a couple of years many moons ago....rythym guitar and bass. IMHO have a good listen to Dave Lombardo of Slayer he pounds it out like nobodys buisness.

Hes norwegian, course he can do that alone! Norwegian death metal pwns all (on a side note, pretty much all music we make are depressing and cold as hell, not all but close)! muahaha.
Seriously tho, i think he did it alone. That drummer is one of the best i've ever heard, could be some help but i doubt it.

A guy can do that alone IF he's talented. Example? The Fear Factory drummer. He has a twin bass drum set and he knows how to do that rapid-fire pedal thing... multiply that by two? Add some studio overlay?
Yes.
Ehh, fast is cool, but theres only so much to do with it.
