In the Dev interview last night they were saying that they thought the main problem with AMS terminal overcrowding was due to the fact that when they designed the AMS they expected there to be 5 or 6 AMS at a base under siege. Well as someone who has spent many hours just deploying AMS for sieges, I can't see how they thought that would happen with the deploy radius they hung on it.
Once you get 3 AMS around a base the 4th guy will spend 10-15 minutes trying to find a spot to deploy that is somewhat close to the base and not in the "no deploy" zone of another AMS. The 5th or 6th guy might as well park at the next base over for as close as he will be to the actual battle.
I would happily provide this support role to my empire if I didn't spend more time hunting for a parking spot than being deployed. Especially considering that the longer you are undeployed and visible, the faster a reaver will rocket the hell out of you.

I think they meant when they made the actual model, not when it was implemented.

I can't count the number of times I've been tooling around in an aircraft and seen the AMS warp bubble flicker. I know it may only be for a millisecond, but the rhodopsyn in my (and likely your) eye will register it, and then it's bye-bye AMS.

I might almost prefer an AMS that was visible, but had a gunner position with a flak cannon. I'm not gonna swear by that though, since a lot of people may have never experienced the warp-bubble-flicker.

Maybe the interference range of an AMS deploy should be reduced. I've felt punished many a time when I drove for five minutes only to find I couldn't deploy. Support personnel should be the least punished people in the game.

It would get the shit decimated out of it if you took off the cloak bubble. People just need to learn to scatter AA maxes around to keep the skies clear. Oh, and they need to put in shoulder fired AA.

I don't think a footman should be able to dispense 1200 damage every few seconds, especially when the certification that supplies that megadamage comes with the Thumper, one of the best weapons in the game.

More sound thinking is undone in this game because of the Decimator than I care to mention.

Just my opinion.

I'm just using the deci as an example, any sort of direct-fire weapon will light it up in the time it takes to blink. I thought it was obvious by now that anything stationary outside of cover is dead, no matter how much armor it has.

Try arguing with vodka. God knows I have.

edit: I work third shift. The TR keeps my fridge stocked. What can I say?
