I was at Aton Tower, cloaked, trying to evade the MAXes above. I had found a relative quiet spot. My squadmate ran up the stairs and was mowed down by a Terran MAX. In a final type before dying, she alterted me.

DemonHutnress: err...max on top

I was beginning to type "ya...i'll just..." when it happened. My pinky tapped the Windows key. First of all, I have 512 RAM, meaning it will take about a minute for Windows to task switch from PlanetSide. It did. The game froze, the screen went black (while typing right here I acidentally hit the right Windows key  ), it came back, Desktop visible, icons loading one-by-one, until the menu pops up about three inches off where it is supposed to be.

It gets better.

I don't know who the fuck ordered it to, but the computer decided to go into standby. I see "Preparing to to into Standby" (which takes another minute to to my stretched RAM) and the screen goes black. No hard drive activity, the power light blinks on and off.

I hit the spacebar. Nothing. ESC. Nothing. Enter. Nothing. Even the cursed Windows key fails to deliver me from the evil black grasp of a Computer Coma.

At this point in a semi-rage, I hit the restart button.

I vow to find the tweezers and separate the Left Windows Key from its place on the keyboard. The right one can stay...for now.

on some keyboards you can even use a pen, pencil, screwdriver and just pry it off. I know how you feel, I was playing d2 the other day and everytime I would go to press alt to make items on the ground show up, I would accidentally hit it, that was about 10 times before I just took it off.

You could also train yourself not to hit the key? I seem to avoid it easily enough. Then again... oh in my old EQ days...

Also, I rest my hands on this thingie connected to the front of my keyboard, right above the button, so I hit it that way, and when hitting sapce, z , x, c, ect.

Thanks, but my registry doesn't have that key. I think that's a different OS. I'll just have to pop it off of my Microsoft Natural Keyboard...

Aztec:

No version of windows has that key. You need to follow the directions and add it.

I've done that except my uber compy can minimize and open up PlanetSide in about a second, like it was an internet explorer window.

If your computer goes into standby you need to press the power button to get it working again.

Low-tech solution: gently pry it out with a flat-head screwdriver.

ASS! The WinBlows key STILL works, even after editing registry.

The only solution now is to pop off the left key. Right can stay.

I don't see why people hate it so much, it's never gotten in my way before.

me neither, though it did happen once, but that was by accident.

I'm left handed, so left hand goes on the mouse, the right hand on the numberpad. no problems for me. :groovy:

Really, I NEVER hit that button in any games. The only time I do is to get to the desktop cause some retard im'ed me with my away message on, it goes faster than alt tab.

Play piano. They'll teach you how to keep your hands, then do that while you play.
