i play the VS all the time (though i have one br4 tr) and i realy dont think the duel mode is cuting it for the versitilty... i was thinking about and it seem that the jumping and the 2 modes (on small weapons only! wtf!)doesn't cuts it troop wise... i say that becuse the hovering ability on our vechs rock and totaly fits the empire... just the weapons...and we are supossed to be so high tech why does the NC and the TR have the same implants as we do? how about a intergrated weapon implant or somthing... man. :confused:

it would be cool but no... i was thinking more along the lines of a intergrated pistol slot for reks or cuds... but the laser eye thing would rock!

no i know that but realy do you as a vanu think that our equipment fits our empire totaly... i would atlest like to be more mobile (as a norm not a boost)

versatility of ... pulsar, i guess? i think it makes up for it in sheer awesomeness. i know i can take most mcg users with it, and a JH if i'm lucky/they're stupid. i like it. the AP is more powerful than the AP in our max, too.

yea the pulsar rocks. me with a ap pulsar and a friend with a lasher (circling him).can easlily kill NC AI maxs.

The VS are versatile enough, you can already bring heavy armor into anywhere faster than anyone else. Your MAX's own everyone elses, and own the infantry. The fact that you GET duel fire modes should be enough, but you also only have to deal with ONE ammo type! I'd say that unless the other Empires were also radically changed to fit their styles in their entirety, which in a nutshell is what i think yer askin' for the VS, The Vanu arn't gonna get what you want for them.

I just wish we had Anti-Grav ground transport.

At leased a four person Thresher, it would be helpful and fit the Vanu technology. I mean they can make a 2 ton Magrider float, they must be able to make a floating sunderer.

The pulsar is awsome, but the cycler is about as good as it gets, it does enough damage per second to kill a guass user before he's fired 4 shots if they start at the same time, and its AP ammo does way more than the pulsar. No nerfing it though, the pulras could use a cool feture like stacking damage to make it more effective and teh guass need more accuracy and a bit more punch per shot.

Noun: A formal fight ("I challenge you to a duel!")
Verb: To engage in such a one on one fight. (We shall duel at dawn).

2. Dual
Adjective: Having two components, parts, sides, etc. (The pulsar has dual firing modes; I wish I could dual wield two Repeaters.)

Not really trying to say anything here, just clarifying what Rayder said. I don't really care which one people use.

Yeah, good point. I should add something constructive to the discussion.

I think the VS's versatility comes out nicely. I've fought plenty of VS players who really know how to take advantage of flipping fire modes. A VS squad using pulsars in armor-piercing mode can do a surprising amount of damage on any type of armor.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but I recall hearing a strategy where VS players using pulsars would enter infantry combat with the gun on the armor-piercing switch first. They'll fire a few rounds, enough to knock down the armor of a Rexo user below 50, then they would switch to the regular firing mode and shoot the less armored soldier. Apparently this was supposed to cut down on th TTK considerably, but I'm not sure how true this is.

Just my two cents.

We are scientisits. Our technology research is not largley military orientated, instead we unlock the secrets of the Vanu to better all mankind. Unfortunatley the opressive TR, and stupid, viloent NC, have forced a small diversion of our technology into weapons, producing what you see in our current arsenal.

So, if you wanted a reason why we don't have totaly different weapons, and implanets and tanks, there you go.

I'm sorry, it sounds like your reading some kind of story into PS. There is no story. You get in there and you blast people!

They should make a entirely new mmofps where they can mix rpg elements into it more and have much more player and weapon diversity. Hopefully this will be possible in a few years, as PS is simply leading the way to the future currently.

One day, an ambitious lad will take the PlanetSide engine, buff the already extant RPG elements of said engine, and create a MMORPG beyond the dreams of even teh 1337357 d00d.

When that day comes, I hope for the blessing of that lad.

i think all empires should get a few empire specific implants. that would be cool.

I think the Vanu are very versatile at the moment. Being able to switch to AP instantly is great. Can't tell you how many MAXs I've killed with the Pulsar at range. Our MAX jumping ability is the best in the game and makes them far more maneuverable and useful than the other Empires. Our tanks and heavy buggies can go places others can't and are a lot better at getting back into the fight quicker than other factions. I play all three empires and by far the Vanu are the best equiped for adapting to any given situation.

Markov, and yes people use the guass, but most of them are picking up HA now becasue the guass is't very effective and you almost need a JH to not get owned by everyone and there gun toting dog, though i think i'm gona pick HA up again becsaue the rexo buff, and the fact a cycler user can kill you 3 times over before you can kill them with a guass
