Beta tester......

Hello...

My name is Ucoa. I been into planetside 1 year befor It was release and 4 months befor it was. I was lucky to be part of the Beta testing. Yes I still have the 3 beta disk that have 1gig on each. I even still have the envolope that they sent them in.

After beta was over I was in a hurry to buy the game and keep on playing . But after 3 or so months I quit do to lag issues. Yes I have a sucky computer and Im going to get a new one very soon. A godlike computer.

Anyways...How is PS? Anything new since it was release? Do people still Zerg? How about Ninja Hacking? I heard besides hacking a base you "capture the flag" of a base. Any help is very apreshated.

BTW: If ucoa rings a bell. Yes I did write and make the Cert calculator that was only avalable at www.planetsidetips.com The site close down and so have I. Me and the admin did plan on re-playing PS in the near futur and the futur is coming near...

It does not say but if you ask another beta tester who recived the disk. They will say it was a gig each.

Oh wow... how have things changed.. well.. lots have changed... Well let's see.. from the top...

There's two types of base captures. One is the normal hack and hold, the other are called Lattice Logic Unit (LLU) bases. Basically these bases you hack them, then a LLU spawns and you have to take it to a random bace that is connected to the base you're hacking. Basically what it does is makes it so the winners, win faster. If you can /just/ barely hack, it's hard to get the LLU out. If the attackers are wasting the enemy they can just ferry the LLU back under heavy escort.

There was an expansion pack: Core Combat that came out. I beta tested for it too. The expansion pack introduces a few new weapons, vehicles, and underground caverns, which rocked in beta testing, but in actual play they are often very empty. In the caverns you can also get little modules that you can bring to the surface which give powers to the base and any base that has a lattice connection to it. New Core Combat weapons can't be bought on the surface without certain modules installed at a base.

Facility Link Benefits. Every facility has a special benefit. When you capture one it's benefit spreads to every base connected by the latice to the base. This makes the game much more tactical.

There was a new vehicle called the Lodestar introduced that lets you carry any one vehicle through the air. Also everything in the game has been tweaked several times. Also vehicle certs have been put into groups like infantry weapons are, so you can get more than one vehicle for every certification you buy.

Also, on this CD discussion it /may/ be possible to fit that kind of data if you heavily compress everything.

That is where I left. Like a week after they came out!

Finnaly they did that enhancement where each base has a feature. I been waiting for that to come out for a while. That LLU you talked about. Wow... That is a VERY VERY good Ideal. It got kinda boring. Hack-guard-next base-hack-guard. Was no point but with the LLU, it makes the battles more intenst you need to work as a team.


EDIT: Does each tower have a "ANT silo" If so then this game went to hell....

its come a long way from beta, they have recently taken up with the patches and enhancements scence CC was released, some of the things there have for future plans are cool

yeah spee the disks had about a gb on each, the whole PS folder in the end was over 3gb, most of it was compressed

In beta they said they will release it but then it was push back to finnaly release then they pushed it back to "Platoons will be avalibal in futur patches"

They have platoons, and 2 free vehicles, the Skyguard, and Lodestar, and a shitload more, you should try it, :)

But the EVIL AUTODRIVE BUG came back today, now my reaver and skeeter are both totaly usless again it sucks when you can't get yout reaver above 50kph

Yes it does sound like the game CHANGED alot! I have a question... Back in the day you had to at lest 1 vehical cert to drive the ANT. Since there are 3 free rides, can I drive the ANT?

When they said free rides they meant non-empire vehicles. They still need certs to use.

Ohhhh.... I thought that you dont need anyting to drive.... So theya re not free rides just nutral rides.

Maybe he meant free as in you don't have to buy an expansion to get them?

There's also an expansion that allows you to fight underground and use Ancient Tech weapons/vehicles.
