You should be able to go prone. At least with the sniper rifle. :groovy:

there are 2 ways to do prone:
1)have a person horizontal making him either float or be buried. looks really bad but needs little resources.
2)make it look real, but then so many resources are needed in zergs that you'll need an Athlon FX-51 with 8 gigs of ram :(

the code is there. it would be a special function, like a commie max locking down.

Yes, you should be able to go prone.
But what about Mr. Aimbot who milks the COF advantage?
That's right: exploiters are ruining your game for you. Now how cool do they seem? They suck hamster-gravy through a straw and call it glory.

not really sure how that applies. but ok.

yes, you should be able to go prone. and, it should improve CoF. anyone know the RL differance of firing a rifle in kneeling and prone? whether your using prone supported or prone unsupported, you'll be more accurate than a kneeling position. you should be able to high-crawl, and roll left and right while prone also, imo. i mean, you ARE supposed to be in the military in-game. how about some of the most basic principles put in? would give the the game a little more flavor.
i don't think it should be too hard on your graphics. in SWG you can go prone...

In SW:G you can also gimp yourself for the whole world to see.
Bad parallel.

I heard they didn't put it in because of a ton of clipping issues. Like going prone on a hill, you wouldn't tilt, but rather you'd be straight sideways, sticking out.
Not that they couldn't have taken care of that...

they didnt put it in due to the fact they didnt want Sniperside.

i played SWG for the free month and quit. not a bad game, just wasn't for me. sorry if it was a "bad paralell", i dont know much about it. i know you can go prone, though. ya, i know that game is buggy as hell. one reason i didn't like it.

Don't need it.

One of the reasons they said (mind you this was before closed beta) that they didn't put prone in was because the gameplay was already slow enough in terms of killing your enemies at range. However, a contradicting point to this was headshots, they said that it was already too fast

your right. prone is not needed. but, would be a nice feature to add.

they focus on things that are needed. too much work for them anyway.

This topic has come up before. and was shot down due to the fact that if your prone your alot harder to hit. that said they didn't want this game to become sniper side with everyone and their mothers having the sniping cert.

well, one of the main points of going prone IS to decrease your size as a target, making it harder for your enemy to hit you. firing from the prone position also makes you fire more accurately.
but, i see your point. there would be a massive increase in snipers-and not just people with sniper rifles.
but, with flora off, people that are prone won't be too much harder to hit than kneeling. only time you would use prone would mainly be in the grass outside of bases. if your prone inside the base, you will be-and should be-ran over. or prone in a hallway? no..that won't work either. they could give you the disadvantage of while being prone, you get up really slow.
but as someone else said, not needed. would just be cool if implimented the right way.
