8.0. I dig the graphics and the action, I just *really* wish I could toggle walking and crouching like I can prone. The idea of tagging enemies with the binoculars and adding them to your radar is tanamount to god, amazing idea.

I'll also add that the level rules... sieze the huts, disable the boats, take out the far hut as quietly as possible and sieze their sniper rifle, and kill everyone on the beach ^_^

Wow, I figured I'd download this demo because all of you seemed so nuts about it. And then I started to play it. I had everything turned up to Very High detail, but only running about 1024. Needless to say I was floored. This game is a shitload of fun. Martyr and I sat here at one in the morning like kids in a candy store as I shot a guy down the stairs with the M4, both screaming "look at the physics!". The shadows are the most realistic I've ever seen in a game. I was so impressed hearing the enemy commander screaming "left flank move up!" "Right flank move up!" It was the first time I was actually afraid that the enemy would use tactics on me. And it worked! I got outflanked and owned by 2 enemies.

Um, anyways, I'm going to sleep now. But this game... *ahem* DEMO... is awesome. I need to play it some more tomorrow morning.

Gameplay is about an 8.

But graphics and physics and sound is all a definite 10.

:D I mean my god. shoot the water watch the tiny ripples, shoot a man into the water and watch teh blood diffuse. push barrels around and blow shit up.. hell even the bullet hits and sniper tracer are fucking cool.
In some games firing guns feels like your firing airsoft guns. but not this game the sound fx are powerful, and so are the bullets (penetration values ya know ;)) this game jsut rocks even for the demo level, there are soo many paths you can take to get to the final objective its crazy, i mean you actually have a choice of what to do not jsut choose path a or path b... great stuff.

(also this game is easy to edit and customize, I mean besides looknig at the trailer where they show you the editor go into the main folder and look at all teh scripts you can change around just for hte demo)

yea, there are several ways through the jungle, my fav, is heading around all the way to the left, killing 4 guards around a buggy, taking the buggy and using its gun to wipe out the troops in the jungle. its a good game, but the guns, i dunno, when i know i should hit the enemy, i miss sometimes, mabey its me, mabey its the game, i dunno.

The gameplay sucks. Really. It does. The rocket launchers are fun, but real old, real fast. OMA is running around screaming about it everyware......it sucks. Save your money for soldner or BF: VT.

nah its pretty cool how its 1 consistent island, it makes it pretty fun. still its a demo, and it will probably have minor fixes for the release. my one complaint is that grenades are way to weak. it doesnt kill anyone unless you're in the inferno of the explosion.

What I do is get off that platform and take cover until the missels stop coming. You'll know they'll stop firing when the helicopters come in.

Just got done playing it. The engine is sweet and has lots of potential. Too bad the game they made with the engine is nothing spectacular. There's no way to play the mission stealthily when all the guns are so loud and the AI can hear you moving, weather you're crouched or not. I also find it funny that your characters hands shake so bad. I was trying to pick off a guy with the M16 and it was impossible because his hands were moving around so much. This engine could make for some great games. Unfortunately, I don't think this game is one of them.

I agree with Cyanid. The engine is great (except for the water, it was bright blue and I could see the fish underneath perfectly, yet there was a light source above me that should have been reflected on the water). The gameplay however, sucks ass. The game itself has a nice concept, but was horribly executed. However, playing with other people may make the terrible water, shitty ass execution of weapon handling and realism (I can carry this large rifle [I believe it was a .50, not sure cuz I don't have sound and it didn't say] along with an M4, an SMG [whos name I forgot] and a pistol, while sprinting for about 10 seconds). Maybe if someone else came up with a better idea for a game with this engine.

The only complaint I have is that bullets for some reason are unable to pass through bushes or leaves. Kind of annoying when you want to shoot someone. But you can't kill them because they are standing behind a shrub, and my gun has no affect on them.

I really seemed to like it. You actually can play quite stealthily. I managed to complete the game up to the first checkpoint without firing a shot from my gun. I snuk around underneath the docks, and threw rocks to get attention. Then when the AI came to investigate, I cut the up from behind with the machette.

I just replayed it and saw that if you go along the beach after the piers then yeah, there IS a save there. The first time I did it I shot the two guys in the patrol boat as it was nearing the dock house with the sniper, and stole it.

i just played the demo this morning for like 15 min before going to my dads

i really like it, like a mix between splinter cell and sof2

the graphics in my opinion are :eek: just amazing, they run a bit sluggish on my 9600xt and i had everthing on very high and highest resolution, the lighting has some bugs. but otherwise everything looks very nice

i got all the way to the part with the inlet, first i went to the fishing place with the shark hanging and killed all the people there, then went to the inlet with the enemy boat, and killed all those people, but then there was some sniper who killed me, and i couldnt find him, after that i had to go

overall so far ill give it an 8.5, they got a few things they need to fix, like when i get in a firefight my fps drops to like 15, maybe my gfx card is just too slow

It's easy to sneak up into the jungle past all the beach enemies. All you have to do is crawl prone straight up the middle of where you dock your boat. Then you crawl under the dock where the two guys are fishing. You dive down deep and swim all the way over to the beach where the Jeep and the old burnt out tank is. Crawl prone right along the edge of the mountain in the brush up past the burning tank. Once you're on the path you don't even have to crawl anymore you can run all the way up to the second checkpoint, skipping the first entirely. And I did that on Hard. So, it should work for everything. I'm still trying to figure out how to get past the guys on the stairs though. It's just to much of a goddamn chokepoint. Unless there's a sidepath I haven't found yet or something.

I just take out the guys gaurding the beach and then drive the jeep up to the stairs and use its gun to mow them all down. I tried stealthing it past the stairs too and it just didn't work.

games nowadays are much harder and you need to be smart to get through them, like in kotor they gave u logarithms to solve, i found that pretty easy, but in far cry you really need to think absractly and thats not how i think, im too linear

Like I said before, the engine is great, the game concept is great, it's just the execution that sucks. I really don't think I should be able to distract an enemy with a rock when he's looking right at me and shooting, not to mention the hard difficulty isn't any harder than easy.

I think hard is much harder than easy, the enemies seem to have better aim, and are quite a bit smarter. As for the stairs, if you could come accross some flash bangs, you could run up and chop them all to death :)

Just throw a rock and do it from behind. Keep throwing rocks to keep em distracted... or just throw a rock and run up, however, there is no way to avoid the 4 guys up top.

The graphics themselves aren't amazing, it's the concept and the engine that are. There are 8 different ways to get to the first set of stairs that you have to go up to beat the mission. You can go around and not shoot anyone except for those on the stairs, you can kill everyone, you can kill a few, it's amazing. You can also throw the bodies around like a bag of feathers. Oh, and the eyes are interesting, open when alive, closed when dead.

Yeah I think the engine is great, it's not the details up close but it just scales everything so smooth. It's so cool when you make it to the top of the mountain (demo) and look down on where you came from and all. Breathtaking view :D

The AI is pretty good except for really close, which is weird. Up close they keep trying to circle around me or something, but they don't fire O.o

Oh and the mp beta is pretty cool too, I just have massive framerate problems when I have other players on my screen ;)
