ELWOOD, Indiana (AP) -- A man who won $57,000 in an Indiana lottery game taped for television died hours later after being hit by a pickup truck.

The "Hoosier Millionaire" featuring Carl D. Atwood, 73, was broadcast Saturday night after his family said they wanted the show to go on, Hoosier Lottery director Jack Ross said.

The broadcast concluded with a photo of Atwood accompanied by text reading: "In memory of Carl Atwood."

Atwood won the money Thursday during a two-hour taping in Indianapolis.

"I am very thankful," he said on the program. "I must admit that I never expected to be leaving the show with this amount of money. Now I can purchase a very nice car."

Hours later, Atwood was hit by a truck as he walked to the grocery store where he bought the winning ticket near his home in Elwood, about 40 miles northeast of Indianapolis. He died at a hospital.

The driver has not been charged.

Atwood would have been among those invited back to compete for a $1 million grand prize in three weeks.

"We will work with the family to make arrangements on how to handle the championship show," Ross said. "We will certainly have a place on that show for someone who the family chooses to take his place."

Woah, sucky dude. :(

WOODBURY, New Jersey (AP) -- A couple who says their 4-year-old daughter saw hard-core pornography on a PG-rated movie tape from Blockbuster has sued the video company.

The plaintiffs, who were not identified, said the footage appeared on a "Home Alone 3" tape rented April 7 from a Glassboro store.

The pornographic material allegedly appeared for 10 minutes after the movie credits for the 1997 film.

According to the lawsuit field in Superior Court, Blockbuster "had a responsibility and a duty to inspect, monitor and ensure the quality and propriety of all video products purchased by its customers."

Randy Hargrove, a spokesman for Dallas-based Blockbuster Inc., said Friday that the company does not carry X- or NC-17-rated movies, and depends on renters to return a tape "in the same condition it was given to them."

"Unfortunately there are those rare instances when someone will abuse that privilege and damage one of our tapes," he said.

I think whoever did that should be rewarded. Porn>Home Alone 3, Home alone 3 sucked major bodily orifice.

*LOL*

Funny shit about the blockbuster story. I used to work at one. It would suck to have to view all the video's that get returned just to scan and see if the customer screwed around with it. By covering the small breakable tab on most VHS tapes you can record over the existing movie.

That is ninjorz to the extreme.

But....

Man, talk about your Kharma. Guy wins that $$ and gets hit by a truck hours later? I guess the guy pissed in Gods cornflakes that morning. Actually, I think God is more of a Fruit Loops sort than Corn Flakes.
