this computer is the shit and its unbeatable. the max RAM it can hold is 16 Gigabytes of ram.

also the computer is air conditioned
and here is the monitor for it.

What OS does it use? Windows is only able to address 4 gigs of ram.
R KELLY

it uses windows XP. and i forget to mention it can use UP to a 2 TERABYTE hard drive

You must be mistaken.
A windows machiene cannot use more than 4 gigs of RAM because there are not enough unique combinations of 32 ones and zeros to keep track of more than that.
You'd need a 64bit OS to handle 16gigs and as far as I know such a beast does not exist.

let's see, and overclocked overpriced machine that eats power like crazy and isn't really that good, or an FX-51 with 8 gigs of ram, not overclocked with reall support for all that ram? I would have to say AMD pwnz!

it uses a PCI ramcard for the 16gigs.
This is very old BTW its been in the tech forum twice
EDIT yes there are versions of windows for 64bit, an AMD64 version and an Itanium version

Still reading it but.. Anyone can get a terrabyte of harddrive space.
I want that setup for my workstation graphics computer 8). Thats a sweet case if it really comes with that moniter on it. In a few years, if its real and still around.
Its nice to see htey still make cards to expand card slots and memory.
R KELLY
2004-01-27, 05:48 PM
no i mean there is a such thing as a terabyte and 2 terabyte harddrives. in other words 1 harddrive that holds either a terabyte or 2 terabytes

2004-01-27, 05:55 PM
those were raids i think
Edit:You will never run out of storage space again. Using either built-in RAID ATA133 and SerialATA-150, or optional UltraSCSI-320 or FiberChannel, the Machhttp://www.go-l.com/_images/l.jpg 3.8 has up to 8 drive bays for up to a colossal 2 Terabytes of internal storage capacity. Three of the bays can be used as removable racks with individual LCD displays monitoring all drive parameters, and you can rest assured of long-term reliability as every drive has it's own cooling fan and heatsink, and is continuously checked for health and temperature and operation status.
And it said Itanium versions somewhere ^^ If you switched or could add the good nvidia modeling card youd be all set. Which is the better nvidia modeling card? The fx 3000 one or one of the others?

WEll my computer can technicaly have 2.5 tb of 250gb hardrives connected to it, te configuration for teh drive would be a 1tb IDE-133 raid, a .5 tb SATA raid, and 4x 250gb drives on the two main channels on my board. My case is a bit small for that but i could probably fit it in there

Even if it could hold 16 Gigs of RAM... why? I mean, any more than 1 Gig won't increase performance much, and any more than 2 Gigs is really unnecessary. I mean, you can get a really nice, new car for that system. Yet a Dell XPS, an Alienware, a Voodoo, or another such computer would offer pretty much the same performance. If someone really has that much money, then paying 15,000+ when you can get away with 3000 or below is pretty silly.

even if?! dude it can hold that much. they even said thats a world record because the the last motherboard that broke the world record for holding RAM was 12GB and it was a DUAL P4 XEON board.

PC4500 566MHz Dual-Channel Performance
DDR, up to 4GB
Up to 16GB Total RAM with optional RamDrives.
A RamDrive is just like your harddrive but much faster. They are not used the same way your system RAM is (the "up to 4GB" part is talking about system RAM). Its like a super-fast floppy disk that gets reformated every time you turn off the power. However, if the RAM drive were used as virtual RAM you'd see a large increase in performance at those times that your harddrive would normaly be accessed for that purpose. The data stored on it would still have to be transfered into the 4GB of system memory before it could be used though.

My guess is that you don't do a lot of heavy-duty video editing, graphic creation, or any other such thing. I know movie studios will grab the best of the best of these things.
Maybe we're looking at the wrong sites, here, but the one I saw was 3k.

Indeed. When we have PS type games that can support up to 100k+ players per server. Only then, will we need 16GB of RAM.

longhorn is a sad attempt by ms to put gamespy out of buisness and to integrate it's anti-piracy software. that's it. it's basiclly a new shell. want a new shell? get aston 1.9 from www.astonshell.com and forget about longhorn.
as for this PC, it's nothing an overclocker can't do at home. maybe not the cooling but still.
get an FX-51 or P4EE based system with 8 gigs of ram in 4 sticks and that's it. much better, much cheaper, and with some good water cooling you can get the same results.

Sorry but cost to performance ratios suck on these rigs.
You pay WAY too much and don't get all that much outa them.
Maximum PC reviewed it about 2 months ago, and said that while spiffy, it's better to save 5 grand and build your own. You'll get much better performance for the coin you put in.
So save those pennies boys and girls and build custom, or if that's too tough get one from Falcon NW.

Falcon NW is way overpriced and has the worst costumer service I've ever seen. My friend and I are comp competitive and we HAVE to be one step ahead of eachother. He has no knowledge of comps and goes by what stupid people say is good.
His system matches mine, in fact, is a bit slower. I built mine for around $1800 and he paid ~$2300 for a BASIC falcon NW package. That excludes all the extra "bang". No custom case, no nothing. Not even a monitor or speakers. So he then bought a cheap LCD monitor and some ok speakers. Alltogether he spent like ~$2500. He got his computer and as soon as he booted it shut down...again...and again. I had to come over to his house after he called Falcon NW's tech support about 15 times to fix it. (Dumbasses didn't have HD plugged in, they said it "fell" out during shipping.). Anyhow...he has it going for about a week (without internet might i add, so no viruses) then it just dies on him. I had to reformat his HD for him and reinstall windows just to get the damn thing to boot.
In conclusion, Falcon NW is overpriced, and from what I've seen...not much more reliable then a god damn e-machine.

Telling your computer to run faster than it was engineered to run. Wich means that it produces more heat that it was designed to tollerate - wich means you need to pull some fancy tricks with your cooling system.
