Well I was looking at some other fan sites and I found this at Planetside Shuttle:
http://www.forumplanet.com/3dactionplanet/planetside/topic.asp?fid=5754&tid=945614
I knew about the 7-12 bases on each continent, but we also get to take over 30 gun towers on each continent!
This should add a bit more depth to the strategy. Should you go straight for the base, or take any nearby gun towers first so that you have a better base of operations to launch your attack from.

Gun towers will be perfect assembly areaas. They'll often be closer to the enemy, and possibly harder to take. They portect the assembling soldiers so I think they'll be ued that way alot. Probably the base will be attacked first because taking losses from a tower w0uld be annoying.

We havent seen any screenshots or have any other info about them. It will be interesting to see how big they are and other general info like that. What I want to know about is the 'gun' part of the gun towers. How many turrets will they have, and what will they be like, just like the turrets at bases or different.

Gun Towers are actually quite easy to take, but since they have Lockers and Bind Tubes (and I think some of them have med terminals...not sure), they're pretty dang useful.
You hack their Control Point using a REK...just like when you hack a Control Console at a main facility. However, there is no 15-minute acquire time after hacking. If you successfully hack the gun tower, it's yours and you can immediately respawn there, use the Lockers, etc.
These are VERY useful buildings...in the right circumstances.

I think the gun towers are awesome! They will make great individual outfit bases and meeting points instead of clogging up the main bases. Besides, this is something outfits can battle between themselfves without other people getting in the way.

I dont think they will be that important, you can just go around.

They will probably me more useful for scouts and loan-wolves as a place to hide and resuply safely.
Just hope the other empire doesnt have a turret control base(forget what they're called).

:stupid:
SJ corrected himself, says it's more like 15 gun towers per continent.
Ludio
2003-01-28, 02:55 AM
Still thats 15 more things to capture on each continent. Instead of only 10 hotspots the action can be spread out to 10 bases and 15 gun towers.

I think their importance will depend on whether or not any of them have inventory terminals.
Locker access is nice, but there are some things you can only do at an inventory terminal. Changing armors, for example.
It also depends on what kind of guns, their range, etc.
Oh, and AMP stations cause your turrets to fire on vehicles. You need to deploy motion detectors to get them shooting at people. Having a skeeter near-by may also do the trick (their sensors also cause ememy infantry to show up on radar)
