View Full Version : Your main Planetside Charaectar? (January 2004)
Biohazzard56
2004-01-28, 09:28 PM
This fourm is a new monthly thread i had an idea for which is to post a brief discription of your main Planetside charaectar (the one you work on the most). And a list of certs and what weapon/vehicle you use most in that certification
Biohazzard56 (New Conglomerate, Markov Server)
Battle Rank: 17 (almost 18)
Command Rank: 3 (almost 4, bio is going to get an OS RUN!)
-Medium Assault, Gauss Rifle (pure accurate 30 round bliss)
-Sniping, Bolt Driver (cause sniping is fun, easy kills from the people who just stand there after your first shot
-Uni-Max, ScatterMAX (Better than the Jackhammer)
-Air Cavalry, Reaver (There is nothing they can do about it)
-Engineering (Repairing my reaver, helping others stay in the fight, especially those vanguards everyone loves :D)
Nice thread bio!
Jagd (Markov, Terran Republic)
Battle Rank: 19.3
Command Rank: 2.8
Combat Pilot / Special Operations
- Medium Assault (I use a cycler probably 90% of the time, but switch it out for a sweeper if I am stuck in a zerged base and know I won't be making it outside anytime soon)
- Special Assault (I always have 2 decimators in the backpack of my agile armor to take out those pesky MAXes, and have a favourite loaded out a thumper and a couple dozen jammer 'nades for when I have to clear an area of deployables)
- Advanced Hacking (being a pilot means having perpetual supply problems, so advanced hacking helps me get those air towers under control as fast as possible. it also lets me sneak into an enemy base, hack the vehicle terminal and burn outta there like a bat out of hell in a skeeter that doesn't set off the turrets)
- Air Cavalry & Support (well flying is my favourite part of this and every combined arms type of game I play so I just wouldn't feel right not being able to pick the right aircraft for every situation. it's impossible to know for sure, but I probably racked up at least half of my kills in a Reaver)
- Ground Transport (I'm trying to get my command rank up and nothing spoils a squad leader's fun as much as being unable to get his troops to the front in one piece)
- Armored Assault (this is just for the flail which I use from time to time when enemy AA is out of hand making it impossible to fly around without getting missile locked)
Once I hit BR20, I'm ditching Armored Assault and getting my infiltration suit and AMS back. I use the flail so very rarely it makes sense, although I'm sure as soon as I have no more room for the cert suddenly the caves will get busy and I'll be wishing I still had it.

BR: 19
CR: almost 3
Medium: Guass for everything, but when going into zergy fight
Sniping: Only two loses in a sniper duel in the past 2 months
AV: Good for pesky maxes when on foot at range
Light Scout: Lighting for the times when i can't get my beloved:
Air Cav: Reaver is my baby; skeeters, libs, reavers, and things that don't shoot flack (Starfire included) = dead
Basic Engineering: for Repairing stuff
at br20 I may pick up Combat eng, but its hard to say.
This character is capable of going anyware qukc thanks to 2 vech cers and deal out damage with them at the same time, keep a standard loadout of Agile: Guass, 2 boxed of ammo, CUD, BANK, Glue gun + 2 glue bottles, and 3 medkits, i use that for any time not in zerg.
When in a zerg i go reinforece with gauss, and a BD or Pheonix
I always have 3 medkits unless i'm sniping, then i have two

My sig has my main character's stats. I used to play cloaker, but I've been getting better with Agile setups, so I dropped that. I'm looking forward to the Rexo buff, so I'm slowly recerting him for heavier infantry roles.
edit: the ATV has to go.

VS Markov Server
BR 20
CR 0 (I'm too busy setting up ambushes and defending to lead) :)
CE- Because I do lots of defensive work solo. I enjoy trying to hold what we've taken and without me a lot of VS assaults would have failed due to back hacks or dead generators at important facilities. This is by far the single most imprtant Cert for someone who wants to play defense. Deploy everything you can and replace it as quick as it gets destroyed. Spitefires, mines and motion sensors make you 3 times as powerful IMO.
Starfire MAX- Most ghost hackers and gen killers use aircraft to strike quick. A Starfire puts a quick end to that nonsense.
Quasar MAX- I don't use this one as much, but it is useful for chewing up multiple enemy infantry sometimes. Usually the Thumper with plasma is just as good. Especially when you already have the Interlink benefit and know where they are.
Light Scout- The Lightning is great for quickly roaming around a base and catching people trying to sneak in. It also allows me to terrorize and keep small squads holed up in the nearby tower if they take that.
Ground Support- I always keep an AMS hidden and deployed nearby so if the spawn room gets camped I have somewhere else to spawn. If I have to grab a Lightning while my AMS is deployed, then I keep track of time and try to make sure I at least get back in the AMSs driver seat before the 15 minute timer is up. This way I can keep a deployed AMS and Lightning going at the same time.
Special Assault- Thumper with plasma for infantry and the Decimator for MAX units and vehicles
Medical- You can guess why :)
I only use Agile armor. Being solo on defense I need to be as fast and as mobile as possible so I can outflank or attack people in the rear.
Darklight implant for cloakers and Surge for quickly outflanking or attacking from behind. I also use Advanced Regeneration for when I'm in a MAX suit. VS MAXs take a lot of falling damage and you never have enough health kits.
Most defensive fights are small scale one on one or occasionally 3-4 man squads looking for an easy take. 1-2 enemies at a time are a piece of cake. 3-4 are doable as longs as they have poor communication and team work. Otherwise a teammate is nice to have around.
When I do join the assault I hold towers, provide AA support and try and keep an AMS in the area.

Special Assault (thumper has its uses and you cant be a grunt w/o max-repellant AKA decimators)
Air Cavalry (aircraft ... just fun and effective)
Scattercannon MAX (AA MAX is bugged and was pissing me off so i picked up AI till targeting is fixed)
Medical (recently picked up, was tired of relying on medkits and always useful to help out your buds with heals)

CERTS
Medium Assault
Well, what can I say, it opens up all other infantry weapons, and the Pulsar is pretty good outdoors. Has started using the sweeper indoors aswell.
Sniping
Sniping is fun! Always loved it in games, and PlanetSide does it well. Getting pretty good at it too.
Special Assault
The Thumper is starting to become my best friend in an indoors onslaught. Plasma nades are good enemy softeners (and grief gainers if unlucky/clumsy).
And I have some Fav-combos with the Decimator.
Reinforced ExoSuit
Well, any lack of speed is totally made up by the 2 rifle slots. I absolutely need them.
Medical
I heal myself 90% time. When I try to heal you, please stand still dammit!!
Armored Assault
I love the Magrider, absolutely. Hard to find a gunner though... Even in my own squad (which are the only type of gunner I really want...).
Advanced Medical
Recently got this as I turned 16 :P
Havn't used it yet, but I actually have btw, I've had this cert once before, and then I revived ONE individual :D

my main load out is a agile suit, a guass rifle, 100 rounds of ammo, 1 decimator, a medical thing, a engy armor gun, and some ammo for the support guns. and i have my inventory key set to `~ button, that way, i can get a deci out in a second and own a max, and switch back for the softies, mostly i enjoy driving my vehicals.

BR 20/ CR 4
MA/HA- All I really use from these are the jackhammer, the MCG, and the cycler. (I love t3h MCG) If if drop HA, I will prolly use mainly the sweeper.
SA- I really only have SA for the decis, the thumper is occasionally used, but only in a total tower zerg.
Adv hack/Engy/Med-engy/med keep me going and allow a large advantage when soloing. Adv hack I have had ever since I was an infiltrator and just cant drop it- its that useful.
Lib/lode/gal- Used to be just the skeedo, but I decided that it was just too kill-whory to be running around with no real support certs. Now I get to deal with the many frustrations of being a gal pilot, such as backseat drivers and a hitbox so large it generates its own gravitional field, pulling enemy flail shots into it.
Also its fun to be the 1-man lib air whore with a trunk choc-full of 35mm blowing up tanks, and a ton of armor perfect for running over reavers, infantry, spitfires, mines, wall turrets, atvs, aa maxs, ai maxs, av maxs, and the occasional skeedo.
When they buff the rexo I will probably get Rexo, dropping HA and lib to get enforcer.

BR 13, CR 2
Med. assault - Obviously need it. Don't use sweeper or pulser though
HA - Fun fun fun :D
SA - Hate thumper, rather have a lasher than thumper...only use, IMO is decimator, and which is why most of my favs have one in it.
Rexo - I guess I'll keep it just until the patch comes out. Otherwise, I'd of ditched it. Way too slow, and the armor doesn't make up for the loss of speed.
CE - Got it to repair myself, kept it for the turrets.
Armored Assault
I love the Magrider, absolutely. Hard to find a gunner though... Even in my own squad (which are the only type of gunner I really want...).
Hard time finding a gunner?!?! I see people line up besides vehi terminals just to gun for one...me included. :D

Why Liberator? Because it fills the role of Mosqiuto,Gal,Tank all with the same vehicle.

BR:20
CR:2
Certs:
Medium Assault: Cycler is my Footing it across country weapon of choice, also good for wall defense.
Heavy Assault: Like spraying massive amounts of lead at my target (fits the TR theme and I like it, looted Lashers and Jackhammers are just bonus)
Special Assault: A Thumper full of Jammer grenades and some Decimators and I am ready to tick off some vehicle drivers.
Reinforced Exosuit: I am all about having more stuff and Rexo has room for it, could care less about the speed. I am a Boy Scout at heart and "be prepared" is my motto, Rexo lets me tote all my toys.
Anti-Vehicle: Love my Striker, my second favorite cert (think I am the only one who likes it) and some Looted Lancers ( wish more VS carried them :( ). Don't care for the Phoenix.
Engineering: Always useful and I am a nut about keeping my Rexo repaired. Carry a BANK and regularly use a regen implant and my longevity in the field goes way up.
Combat Engineering: Hands down my favorite cert. I like getting inside the mind of my opponent and using CE to "predict" where he will be and then killing him while I am not even there. Hella more fun than sniping or cloak backshooting IMO. I am sure this cert keeps me coming back more than any other cert. To me it is mines, and Spitfire turrets in the "right" places and at the very least slowing down my opponent. It is also part of my "be prepared" thought process, it is one more option I have to kill my opponent.
Ground Support: A cert I think EVERYONE should have. It is my only vehicle cert ( gets me form place to place and is helpful to the battle). I never used a Router but, get a thrill in getting that AMS in the right place. Once parked, I never leave my AMS, just turn on my audio amp go to external veiw and check Darklight once in a while. I absolutly love watching cloaks getting frustrated and wondering "why can't I Jack this damn thing" and about that time I jump out with a Sweeper and paste them. I mine the crap out of my AMS and defend it with ferocity carrying either my Sweeper or my Striker (keep both on me).

Certs:
Medium Assault - Prerequistic for HA and the Sweeper is very good, along with the Cycler.
Heavy Assault - Come on, the MCG is the coolest HA weapon out there and makes quick work out of everything.
Anti Vehicular - Got tired of only having three shots with a Deci and missing half the time on MAXes and vehicals.
Reinforced Exo - Getting buffed, nuff said.
Advanced Medical - Always like to help the outfit and zerg out and also useful on myself.
Engineering - Repairing myself and others.
Pounder MAX - To help the outfit and useful in the zerg when I feel like killing alot of people.
Implants:
Surge - Of course.
Adv Targeting - For gunning.
Second Wind - Helped me so many times as a grunt.

Battle Rank: 20
Command Rank: 4
Outfit: Liquid Force
Outfit Rank: General in training
Medium Assault: Use it when Cloaking won't work
Air Calvary: Great for travelling, it's great for personal hot drops, I love flying, and I'm pretty damn good at it too.
Air Support: Mostly a squad support certification, good for Galaxy transport, Liberator suppresion, and a usefull forward deployed Lodestar for repairing and rearming.
Ground Support: My AMS can often turn the tide in a battle
Cloaking: I am a cloaker, I cloak when ever possible, if not, I turn to Agile and Medium Assault.
Combat Engineer: Mostly for the boomers, no cloaker is complete without boomers. The ability to set up defens is also greatly helpful.
Advanced Hacker: Great for aiding the team in a battle, also great as a cloaker.
Outfit Leader: My best and most important quality, I was a Major, but I am currently being tested for outfit leadership, and I am doing quite well. This always comes first, I'm always working on things to aid my bretherin.
Implants
Silent Run: An almost must for all cloakers
Advanced Regeneration: Don't want to spend 3 certs on medic? Get this, very helpful especially when I'm cloaking and have taken damage.

westii, NC - Emerald
BR: 19.4
CR: 4.001 (just got it yesterday, havent worked on cr much since)
This char is mostly a grunt char, with a few support certs.
Certs:
Medium Assault: Guass owns, but i usually take my jh with me.
Heavy Assault: I fight alot indoors, so i use the JH prob 75% of the time. Being able to loot mcg/lashers is always useful.
Special Assault: I need something to kill MAXS with (esp since the birth of the unimax sovereignty), and thumper+plasma is always fun to use in zergs.
rexo: rexo+jh+deci = walking tank, nuff said ;]
medical: Always heal/rep myself after killing an enemy....
engineering: same as above, and to repair my ams.
combat engineering: CE and ams go together perfectly. I usually place 9 mines in the ams bubble, 1 at the front of my ams, and add a small minefield nearby. Also very useful for setting up ambushes, etc. ps, interlink facility+spitfires=ownage....
AMS: 2 cert mobile spawn point, what's not to like? kinda slow, but it works for me :P
implants:
Surge (use this for flanking/getting around quickly, etc)
Darklight (i cant stand amp-toting-cloakers...)
Audio Amp (been switching this around lately, but it works very well for defending. Knowing where your enemy is coming from is a very good advantage)
fav loadout
armor: rexo
holsters: Bank, JackHammer,Med. App, Decimator
inventory: 1x decimator, 3x health kit, 3x jackhammer AI ammo, 2x nanites, CUD,REK.
When i hit br20, i don't know what i'll do. my current cert setup works extremely well for me, but i might drop AMS for assault buggy, light scout, or mosquito.
