All it needs is to redo the shadowing and lighting and maybe new models something the DC team is really good at

Er...
I mean, BF1942 engine's horrible for modern combat games.

Doesn't matter... someone will do it. Probably sooner rather than later, too.

That'd be funny if they became the FH of BF:V

Yeah but it'll be like shit. All the mod designers are gonna race to get thier mods out first when Battlefield Vietnam comes out. Thats what made DC so popular. So everyone will do a rushed job and all the mods are gonna suck for Battlefield Vietnam.

Although you guys do realize that the DC team simply can't move the original DC mod over to BFV. They have to start from scratch again.

Not really from scratch. They have all the vehicles and weapons models and textures, and the mapping won't take as long(as the textures are done)
Also, coding will be easier.

Wouldn't supporting Desert Combat involve giving the team a big fat check to do this job? This seems more like telling them what to do.

Yeah, I agree with seer's comment. Anyways, the BF1942 SDK will probably finally be released when BF:V comes out.

Maybe even do both it is the same engine with the same file system essentially, so why not both?

How about because they want to finish what they started first.

you jsut answered your own question. its basically the same GAME!!! so why waste all that time and rescources when you have a perfectly good, running version on BF1942??? duhh...

Battlefield Vietnam has support for new gamplay mechanics like the Vietcong's traps that would be a great addition to DC, not to mention the awesome looking graphics engine

If they were going to move, they'd do it to a more powerful engine.
