Stop me if Im wrong but you get ex by killing people. But that isnt fair. I see people dying from pistol shoots, and it has happened to me, and I was in full armour at 150, and full heath, but I have to use up a hole mag of any rife on one person to kill them, and at the last shot, someone comes and shoots them with one shot and kills them gaining the xp where is should be my xp. It should be the amount of damage you do to someone, not if you kill them.

Interesting idea I've played games in the past (FreeSpaceand FreeSpace2 were one of them) where the person who caused 51% or greater damage to a target got the kill point and the person who made the last 49% got an assist.

I agree, hate this. Especially as a sniper. (Although, I get my share of final shot kills)

Indeed...if you really think about it...you stealing someone elses kill vs. someone stealing your kill, it just about evens out anyway.

well they do it so if u injure someone, and they run off, and someone 5 min later kills them off...the 3rd person doesnt get ripped for XP....is a flawed system tho

How would it work if say... I get shot up, run off, fix myself to full, rinse+ repeat a few times then finally die?
How would the exp be split up then? :p will I end up giving 3-4 people full credit for my death or what? ;)

When you heal, the ones that damage you won't before the heal won't get any xp.

This would become too complicated for the already-strained servers to handle. I'll accept the loss of a kill hear and there if the game runs smoother.

Probably helps that I'm BR20 too though....

The way I see it, as of now the sever has to account for a few things as it represents them in-game. The hitbox (which is the same size for everybody, it is independant of your avatar), your character's sex; M/F, your choice of face and voice, your type of armor and weapons, you character's speed; run/walk/surge/crouch-walk+ what independant armor speed they have as well.

Now that is 6+ different features the server has to draw/ account for at any given time for any and all people within a range of you. I assume it is also tracking how long they have spent since they last spawned as well somewhere in there (for kill exp).

This may sound a lot like the argument against multiple hitboxs, but it is another variable for the servers to account for and as such would probably equate more lag should they revamp the exp/reward system.

Most of it could be computed locally. The only thing that is needed is to send a variable of who did the damage, and your computer keeps the info of who did how much damage to you, and when you die, you send the info to the server.

Up in the higher BR (16+), the larger chunk of your XP comes from base captures.

I wish to could fix this part. I don't really care who kills the enemy, as long as he is dead. But, I really hate to be shot by a spam weapon, just because the other guy wanted to kill that enemy first. The worst case for me, I was attaching a van in my prowler. He was almost dead (1 more shot). We were point blank range, and then, Friendly Reaver spam takes us both out. I send the guy a WTF tell, and get back "sorry, just wanted to make the kill". G0d I hate that kind of crap.

I run around in my reaver and leave vehicles alone. If I see others attacking it, I wait till it's about to blow and I can kill it with salvo of rockets (advant targeting) and just take the kill.

My bet is you don't shoot the friendly's too. What you posted is acceptable to me. If I almost kill him, and he races away, I hope a reaver is there to finish him. Nothing I hate more than for an enemy to escape. I don't care if you join in at the last second and kill him first, as long as you don't spam me too. I just hate the fools who disregard friendlies in their lust for a kill (you know the ones, they usually end up griping about weapons lock and want to fix the grief system).

I think its funny whenever I see a thread wanting to "fix" the grief system when in reality, all the people bitching about how it is overdone are just little killwhores who think that 1 enemy to 1 friendly is an acceptable kill ratio. (Read: flail users)

OMG I fird my plasma thumepr at the emeny but 3 friendlies jumped in the way and i got a weapons lock all from that! we need to fix the grei fsystem!!!

The flail is crazy grief although you cant get more then 50 per shot unless done multiple times.

The greif for vechiclas is another thing i run my atv up a van i get no grief but the van thats not moving gets greif for being the victim. It should be measured in velocity but that would more complicatedm, too complicated. As for infantry greif its fine within acceptable levels, got greif lock switch server rinse, repeat. After you got greif lock on all the servers spam the forums about nerfing it.

As a pounder user I can sometimes bitch about the grief system. I've never intentionally fired on a friendly. Well there was that one time but thats a story I don't feel like getting into. But with the DC being AI again i'm a happy camper.

Have they implemented that yet, or is that in the next patch?

There is nothing wrong with the XP system, you just can't get every kill for every person you shoot at. In war would you bitch at a fellow soldier for finishing off that enemy soldier? No, same in-game, and lets face it, you dont get your kills stolen ALL the time unless you are attacking a target with many people, then its just luck, you have no right over others..

Lmao yeah i got high grief as a n00b when i first started out with SA ( I 4gt i was super spewing out rockets and shit :P) then i got run over by a friendly TK'er in an ANT only to get grief for that resulting in a 20 min weapon lock, after ages of being careful then being run over lol.
