What are your thoughts on the subject?

As long as i get evil nanobots with which to destroy my enemies... and make me cheese sandwhiches.

go go nanotechnology, good idea

I think for the fields of medince, waste mangement, and manufacturing (computers) that Nanotech is gonna make the world shake at its very foundations... when it works that is.

Can you imagine, no more blindness, deafness, paralysations, limbs regrown, sex changes on the fly, hearts reparied, lungs rebuilt, kidneys restored, livers fixed, birth defects fixed in womb, bio degrading of materials will take hours instead of years, power will be easier to manage, and computers will... imagine oyur grand kids "Waht do you mean grandpa that you played that PS game on THAT POS computer? My cell phone wrist implant could play three copies and still barely be ticking over, lame grandpa, LAME.

One of my huge interests. We've already made huge strides in some of the types of nanotechnology, such as Carbon nanotubules in the area of Nanomaterials.

I can't wait to have my own nanocloud to control a la Anarchy online. It's the future, embrace it.

And don't forget the potential for symbiotic cellular nanotechnology. Wounds heal faster, muscle builds at a tremendous rate, our brain superconducts, and we have computers built into our brain stems. It'll be great.

muscle builds at a tremendous rate as in you dont have to work as long? and my brain superconducts...when it wants to

Muscles build as in you don't have to do anything at all, I think

You'd be able to do it.

indeed^ (to the nanomachines in the pants that is)

and neg, we wont have comps built into our brains, why you ask? even if we had the computers. and the nanomachines, we still barely have a clue as to how our brain works

as for everything else, i cant wait, but ill prolly be dead before they get really good, closest thing for nanomachines for now will be protines programed to do stuff.

Ok, sorry, this just popped into my head and I can't get it out....

"Lucy! Where did you put the instruction manual for the nanobots? I want to implant a virus into a guys' head but I can't because I forgot and now I can't even find the goddamn fucking manual...! Lucy? LUCY!"

*loud muffled "Mmmrmph" comes from the bedroom*

"Lucy! Stop taking Panchos' 5 dollars away from him! You know he needs that for the magical cookies that he puts in his lunch!"

Yeah for the slow backslide of human genetics and dependence on technology to correct it!!! But seriously, nano technology is good, but we'll go to far. The human race is, as a whole, to stupid to quit while it's ahead.

I was refering to augmented muscle growth. You could use nanotechnology to deliver the hormones, or later on, use nanobots to hasten the replication.

Anybody hear about nanotubules? Materials so strong you can suspend an I-Beam from a strand the size of a human hair.

Sex changes on the fly? Ok, now that would just be weird.
Woman: "oh baby, do me"
Man: "Ok, now you do me"

Oh yeah, and I can't wait for the day when people can write viruses that will actually make people sick. You know that's gonna happen.

LNS, you play AO? Give Trew a /tell sometime. Not anymore. The game was fun as a grind game, but I HATE FUncom with a passion, total spin doctors.

I was a level 28 MA, if I'm not mistaken.

My concern is that the military will go crazy on this stuff. They'll have armor that is almost weightless and completely bulletproofed. This will only lead to a totalitarian government. In America, we seek to place limits on power. If the government has an army of thousands of soldiers that can't be killed, self-building tanks, regenerating ammo, etc.

The military is a largely conservative group, they tend to like small government, but there will be generals, in time of revolt, who would side with big government and could kill millions effortlessly.

I support improving people through it, making better computers, killing cancer with tiny little orbs that heat up and kill it, etc. But I don't like the idea of an army of unstoppable killing machines, no matter who it belongs to.

I'm thinking more of a non-apocalyptic Deus Ex, where a few people have it, but they're mostly like cops and stuff, good guys, with a few bad guys mixed in.

I'm really, really worried about the grey goo theory. Once we finally produce self-replicating assemblers, how could we stop them?

do you forget americas army is 100% voulenteer, unless there is a major war, requireing a draft, but it always comes from the people, and the soldiers wont kill the people, because thats where theyre from, remember now, this isnt rome, the generals dont pay the soldiers, the people do.

Unlimited ammo guns could not exist, simply because in a chemical reaction nothing is created nothing is lost. So you can't build bullets out of air. If the nanobots were made out of a protein that build bullets from the metal of the gun then sure you could have some more ammo, but eventually you would run out the gun would destroy itself.
