View Full Version : Beginning Base Rush

Looking at the continent map, it appears that there are a number of unallied Gates at the beginning of the game. Naturally, these are going to be rushed by the first players. My question is

1-If everyone is starting at Rank 1, who is going to be able to ADVANCE HACK the Gate in order to control it? (Im assuming that the Gate needs to be controlled by your empire in order to use it.)

Gates can't be hacked and they're always on.. walk into the shiny beam in the middle and bam you're off to another continent

Also, you don't need a hacking cert to hack a base, you just need the hacking pistol. The cert makes it work faster and lets you steal a vehicle and you need an advanced cert to steal a terminal. Or something like that.

I think you need the basic hacker tool cert to use the hacking tool, you can't use annything else whitout the cert so why should it be different?

Because hacking is most important part of the game. Its built that way, if you can't find a hacker, you're not completely screwed. It keeps the game pace going at a nice steady rate. Having hacking, or even Adv. hacking GREATLY improves the speed of hacking, but is not absolutely neccessary.

i vaguely remember someone somewhere said anyone can hack, but hacking w/o cert will be like downloading beta over modem.

Yeah, annyone can hack

REK
The Remote Electronics Kit (REK) is a hand-held hacking device that can remotely interface with the majority of enemy terminal types at close range. Most REK functions require either Hacking or Advanced Hacking Certification, but there are also standard functions that don't require any hacking certifications but take considerable time when employed by a non-Hacker.

Now, wonder what a certless person can hack.. hehe

Whether you get a place or not really makes no difference. Its more who can defend it then who can initially get it. People will rush to cap one place, then leave, and find that the place they capped isnt theirs anymore.

The maps are in the screenshots... Look for the Warpgate maps that show al the continents.

And yes they'll be a rush and then a 2d rush, but if you look at the map, you'll see that certain Gates are almost the only way to hold a continent. Therefore, you control 2 of 3 gates into the continent, you can restrict the enemy to appearing where you know they are and concentrate your forces over there.

My main concern was that the other continents wouldn't be available for several days. (Until Hackers showed up)

Thanks for the info on the REK.

Not necissarily Guardian, cause that one person would have to have a good hackin cert, or else it would take forever. And believe me, the mili-second that PS comes out, i can garuantee you that people will be on in no time, so it will all even out.;)

The most important things to gain control of will be the TechCenters just outside sanctuary gates. ie, Terran will want to capture Orisha. That way you can start spawning and launching attacks from outside your sanctuary. Notice most warpgates have tech centers close to them.

This is just speculation on my part of course, but the first thing we did when I played was cap Orisha.

You need a techplant to get the spawning tubes of other bases to work?

So the NC should hit Tore and honsi, then book ass to the DS center, then move back to Chuku and work around to Faro.

That's a pretty common term in FPS's that support "capture the flag" games, or base-control stuff.

One thing I DID notice on that continent map that I handn't before was the sizes of the SOI's.

The red SOI's (TR I would assume) were all fairly small, except for their one AMP station.

Same deal with the purple ones (VS, right?).

But the blue SOI's were all as big as the other empires AMP SOI's. NC controlled 2 AMP stations.

Educational, eh?
