How did you first find out about PlanetSide? I downloaded a Tribes 2 map called PlanetSide T2. I was basicly to bases that look like some PS bases. Anyway.....on the loading screen there was a link to PSU. So how about you people?

Use to play one of Sony's online games called Infantry. Was part of this clan called CwA and a former member named PrinceVegeta started telling me about this game months before it was out and how I should join his Outfit House of Varnay and play with him. So I checked out the game liked the idea, got into beta and loved every minute of it...not sure what happened to that outfit...

Used to play EQ and SWG. Saw the previews on the Sony site and figured what the hell, been playing since it came out after beta, expect I will keep playing till the lag gets so bad I can't anymore.

Got an E-mail from the leader of my Old Tirbes 2 tribe saying they would be starting up an outfit for Planetside with links to PSU and the Beta registration.

blizzard downloaded the 7-day trial, liked it, bought the game, and gave me his 7-day trial.

A buddy showed it to me.
A couple friends in my Desert Combat clan bought Planetside, and after watching them play a little I decided I had to get it myself. After getting the game I realized I had to upgrade my PC, so a couple weeks later I had my new mobo, ram, cpu & vid card purchased and zipping along, and at last I logged into Markov. :D
The sad part is I have upgraded my Video card and RAM since then (this was only last June) and I still have to run at medium-low settings and continue to get punishing lag on poplocked continents ever since the merger.

Picked up a free copy at GenCon in Indy last year. Didn't install it for about 2 months, hooked ever since. BTW don't hate me but my free copy came with a free one month card too :)

I read about it back when you were going to be a bunch of mercenaries doing missions for various corporations on the planet instead of what we have now. I'm not sure where I read about it, but it was online, for sure.

Clanmate in T2 mentioned it... that was when there was talk of apartments, money, mission lists and whatnot, and the site was shitty... i think it might have been this one

Yeah, heard about it when everyone had NC uniforms, we were all mercenaries, and you had apartments + gradges. Read the PC gamer article, thought "Hey, that's a cool idea" to myself and it dropped off radar for... 3 years? 4 years? Then, on my way back home from my family's vacation, I see an article saying it was 95% complete. Got into the community in a small way, got into beta, never looked back.

blizzard bought the game, and gave me his 7-day trial.
Fixed.
Anywho, I saw it in some PC Gamers preview some number of years ago, and then when the hype starting coming back up as release neered, I got back into it.

Got the 7-day trial version on a cover disc of my favourite gaming magazine "PCZONE", didn't pay attention to it though.
Until my little brother gave it ago, and I hijacked his character after I saw him messing about on it.
Little Brother complained, he then cried when he couldn't continue because he didn't have a credit card.
I waved my card about in his face, bought the game & subcribed.
I laughed and was content.

I learned about it back when Infantry a game by SOE was still in Beta like maybe a good 3 or 4 years (maybe not that long ago but it seems like I waited that long) when it the project was started and some had found the link for it on the SOE website and said holy sh!t check this out and so I did. I have been hooked even before the game hit beta although I didn't get accepted to beta thats ok too.

I saw it like 2 years ago either in PCG Magazine or maybe Computer Gaming World. It was well before it was released, and I was really sad because I thought it was out already and I looked all over for it. Then I found out it was still in development and cried for a while, then waited, and waited, and waited.

An issue of gamepro with an interview i thought it was cool, then i saw it in an issue of PC Gamer with a hands on looks pretty good i might get it (was still hooked to Earth and Beyond Online back then x.x) Then i saw the exclusive Fileplanet GSI Movie. Then i went crack addict bio over PS Screenies, i applied for Open Beta, got into open beta. Was paranoid for two weeks about my CDs (remember when everyone did those fanta shokanta movies? on the OF?). I Finally got my CDs (Best Easter Evar). Then sanc crashed 5 times every 5 minutes, 4 hours later i was a noob "But an intelligent noob". Ive been hooked ever since, And since your reading this it might be a good time to mention my Strategy Guide where all you noobs can find tips to make you "intelligent noobs". www.planetside-universe.com/article.php
Enjoy!

Was following it in Beta and bought it first day. I am a hardcore FPS fan so there really wasnt any choice for me :( I became aware of it because I played EQ and saw all the marketing blurbs on it

After my bro got back from AIT we were looking for a good online FPS. We saw PS at WalMart and bought it. He hated it (mostly because it ran poorly on his machine and he has a [I]serious]/I] patience issue =P), I loved it.

Saw it while reading gamepro last february edition. For some reason i was bored and looked at it. It seemed kinda kool, did some research and vowed to buy it and get in beta.
BTW this game was in development over 5 years ago???!!! I had no idea. I figured it was started maybe mid to early 2002, and i had NO idea that you were originally going to be a mercenary. Most far back I've seen is when the vehicles were green etc.

Saw preview at IGN, one of the side-ads. Downloaded the beta, loved it, but got lazy to get it, especially since I just got a couple games and was busy with other stuff too...and just a couple months ago, bought it off friend.

A friend made me buy it. I thought it looked retarded, but went ahead and got it. I didn't even want to play NC, I wanted to play TR! All my friends quit before they even got BR20 and here I am BR20 CR5...

Heard about it from a friend. Loosely followed the developement.
Was warned about the Cone of Fire when my friend heard about it, and quickly got irritated and forgot about the game.
After a while I discovered there was a 7-day trial on File-Planet. I downloaded, cus I had nothing better to do one summer the last week before school started.
I played almost 24/7 those 7 days!!
The Cone of Fire wasn't at all as I suspected it to be! I actually love it!
Outfit House of Varnay and play with him.
When you install the game there is a guy with the outfit House Of Varney in one of the screenshots about something like the enemies name is red and the friendly is green. I'll get the name a bit later when I try the game on my laptop.

When i used to play T2, and then i heard about what happened when Sierra shutdown Dynamix, and Dave Georgeson "Quix", now "SmokeJumper" announced that he would work for sony. And that he would be making PS. After that i just waited, and then one of my friends did the early beta and said he loved it. So i also got it and we both joined the 1st Fist of Light. The pwnage began. The leaders of the fist decided to stop, since they claimed it wasnt like the good old days. And eventually the outfit degraded. I left recentally in pursuit of another outfit. The Fist is still running, with a few veterans and some new recruits. But its not what it used to be. So i left. The Fist is an actual guild in alot of rpgs, so check them out at www.1stfistoflight.com. Im not an rpg guy so i left.

I discovered Planetside about a month ago, while surfing the web (came across that windows xp 30 day trial thing). couldn't get the 30 day trial, cuz no credit card, so got 7 day one. downloaded over night, installed it, instantly like it.

Decided to play the game after dealing with the morons on more open "public" games. In BattleField 1942 you have to deal with real hackers and exploiters, server admins that kick you because you owned them too many times, and real game balance problems... like in BF1942 an ace pilot in a fighter can single handedly obliterate the entire other team until the map timer or ticket count is done. In PS you can't lone wolf like that, you just won't last.
So I came to PS to avoid cheats, lame admins, and horrific balance issues.

I saw a friend playing it last July, but he hated it and my rig wouldn't be able to handle it. Got a brand-spankin' new Alienware rig in September, bought in in October, and have been hooked on FragCrack ever since.

I dont remember how I first heard of it, but I'm about as far back as warborn. Heh, I can even remeber before the VS was even a concept. I can also remeber when they has classifications for weapons as follows.
Shotguns, Adv. Machine guns, energy weapons, and missile weapons. I can also remember the first time I saw a screenshot of the TR and NC MAXes.
Anywho, I saw it in some PC Gamers preview some number of years ago, and then when the hype starting coming back up as release neered, I got back into it.
Same here.

Some of the reasons why i stopped playing BF1942/DC.
anyways...
I remember seeing a post about ps beta on bfcentral forums, thought it looked cool, so i applied to exclusive beta. Got into exclusive a few days after open beta started (got to dl beta, didnt have to wait for cd's  ). Been playin almost daily ever since.

Saw it in a PC Mag preview about 2 years ago, thought to myself, one day i will have that game! Anyway, forgot all about it until a guild mate in Ultima Online mentioned it, said he was considering getting it, i said i had known about it and was interested, so i upgraded my PC (graphics card and RAM) and then when PS arrived, 10mins into my first login, i knew i would quit Ultima for this, and so i did, several guild mates did the same, i sold a 2 year UO account for 190 on ebay and have been playing PlanetSide too much ever since :P Also reformed my old UO guild into a PS outfit on the Werner server (INI Elite) Things are going pretty well and we are in the top 30 outfits in every dicepoint category for the server. Roll on good times :D

I Discovered or Heard about Planetside when I was watching G4's E3 2002 or 2003. It was a brief 30 second clip, just after seeing that I was sold on the Idea, from there on out I followed ps, signed up for beta. Played it even though my computer is "sub-par" i'm still drawn to it.

First heard about it in my Tribes 2 community of choice ("the pond" Siege server forums). Signed up for the open beta...didn't get in. Then I entered the first open beta giveaway contest and was one of the 25 winners! I thought that was really nifty...then the open beta contests started popping up everywhere, and eventually open beta was released to the public via FilePlanet, so I didn't feel quite so special anymore. Been a member of PSU since December of '02. Wow...been here over a year, didn't quite register till just now.

A bunch of my AA friends told me about it and I well was convinced (held under gunpoint) to try it, so. . . . I bought a copy and got addicted.
Now for what made me keep playin?
The first 4 or 5 days of my PS experience, I was desparetly tryin to run from battle to battle and I felt like I was wasting my time. I said I would give the game one more chance, and I got invited into a squad of guys, just a random squad. Well we followed the zerg and OMFG! We spend 7 hrs fighting over 1 cont ( I was TR I think the cont was forseal or amerish) It was the most intense gaming experience of my entire life, after that I couldnt stop playin.
Unfortunately a personal accident involving a friend in a car wreck caused me to stop playin anything for a while. But I couldnt stay away. . . . SO IM BACK! lol man the game has changed since I left just about the time LLU was implemted. But Im getting used to it again.
