About time they did this move. Now all they need to do is make AV ammo boxes smaller.

If this isn't true, it is a mean trick to play on a fool in love with SA...

Yeah, that would be cruel. Fool in love you say? Well, Im not sure what this means, but the other day I saw how the Decimator was looking at the Phoenix/Striker/Lancer. She gave the look that can only mean one thing... I want to be bundled up with you 3 big boys!

Who needs proof when the evidence is so obvious?

Ack, link is broken. Hold up while I find it.

No no no no no. This can't be. I need proof, SOE might have just messed up my favorite cert... I guess SOE just wants me to drop REXO, pick up HA and go surging my way to infamy.

The new one works. Oh yeah... He meant smaller *in size* not smaller in capacity. I'm stupid.

Sorry lith, I apologize and retract my crack statement.

Spamasider...we've already announced that the Deci will be going to AV soon. (Patch after next.)
Smart guy.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOO!!!!!

They screwed up my favorite cert. Dang it, SA made that game fun again, now I have to spend ANOTHER 3 points to have any chance against vehichles... Now noone will ever go near SA. For killing infantry they will whip out their HA and for vehichles they will have AV. Wish they would have just made AV worth the threee cert points in a way that doesn't nerf SA or lower the cert cost of AV.

All I can say is that they better lower the cert cost of SA now, cause if it stays at threee, I will have to forget it just to make my character whole again. :furious:

ARHHGGGGG!

If they make this change just switch SA with AV. You still get the decimator and when you use the Phoenix a few times you will become a Phoenoholic like I did. Use the Deci for indoor MAX murdering and playing peek a boo with enemy vehicles from behind cover. For 100% cover long range attacks you just cant beat the Phoenix. A handful of Phoenix users can shut down vehicles, vehicle terminal, and all MAX units that dare to step outside at an enemy base under siege. Trust me you will love its power. As with anything NC, its very user friendly and exceptionally powerful.

You don't understand, I liked the deci because it allowed me to compete against armor, but I didn't love SA cause of the deci, it was more of a garnish. The reason I loved SA is cause of the rocklet and to a lesser extent, the thump. Now I have to free up an extra 3 point just to compete against armor again, which means I have 2 pay 6 points to get my weapon of choice and an AV weapon.

Friggin A, man. Make AV worth 3 points or lower the cost, don't nerf SA. All I can say is that if I HAVE to get AV, the pheonix better be worth 3 points, cause otherwise I'll be hella pissed.

I actually likes this when I think about it... I didn't like the Idea earlier, but that was manly out of egoistic reasons. And I didn't think that SA would be worth 3 cert with just 2 weapons. (I don't have CC) But when I heard about the buff of ammo it seems reasonable.

The Ammo boxes of the Rocklet Rifle and the Thumper will be increased. Same thing with many other weapons in the next patch after the one that will come shortly.

Hmm, thats good, but I'd still rather have my deci. As it stands now, I normally don't have that much problems with running low on ammo, I would much rather have my deci. :P

I would give up my deci in a second if they increased the clip size of the rocklet though. If even a couple of my rocklets miss, I am stuck reloading that thing, and it take forever to reload.

well bully for you. :p
Its not that big of a thing for me, except for the fact that now SA needs a boost (bigger then just the ammo boost that I think most every weapon is getting)

I think that either increasing the clip size of the rocklet (as thumper is fine as is, just not always usefull) or decreasing the reload time would make it a usefull cert worth 3 points.

When i had SA, Decimators were my soul. Deci was the only thing that made SA worth it to me. Now that its gone :furious: poor choice, Decimator added something unique to Special Assault.

Basic Training + AIT = 29 weeks, + reception, graduation and transport = roughly 7 months.

Yes, Phoenix is most definitely worth 3 cert points just for the fun factor.

Look the thumper is very usefull in outdoor battles while the rocklet rifle is a one-barreled shot gun inside. In my view if they increse the ammo for the rocklet i will never go low on it again and thats what balances it out. The AV was underpowered but if it got a buff it will be owerpowered against MAXes and small vehicals but still be weak with tanks.

This is awesome news. I'm renewing my subscription. I've always dual certed SA and AV, and I've always wanted more grenade ammo.

2004-02-03, 10:25 PM
Its great, but it still doen't fix AV, it needs a damage buff(to about 85% of deci levels, taking in to accout fire rates ofcourse) and more ammo.

like another person said, the Decdi is used to kill maxes and vehicles.

The pheonix, lancer, and striker are used to kill maxes and vehicles.

So why are they in seperate places. What makes it special, nothings special about it, its like a law/panzerfuast, not like a grenade launcher or wierd rocket rifle thing

Love the change! Gives me a striker to use for scaring off mossies and reavers, when the bloody thing works that is hehe.

Nothing special about the deci, the change should have happened ages ago.

They finaly fixed the major issue with the decie being in SA. Besides, Thumper and Rocklett are geting ammo buffs as well. If you only got SA for the decie, congradulations, you can now attack enemies more effectively at range than before with AV weapons.

I guess I'll be playing a lot after the "Patch after next"

Meh, no 'yay' in that. The AV weapons suck as of now (except the Lancer, my favorite gun ever). I mean, the Phoenix does almost no damage, and neither does the Striker. I'd take a Thumper over a Phoenix anyday. Hell, even Spork posted it, here's a loose quote:

"In effectiveness against vehicles, the certifications go in this pecking order: AV MAXes, SomethingIForget, then last, shoulder-mounted AV launchers." We all know the AV MAXes suck, the AV weapons need buffs.

What I'd like to see is single-weapon certs. Like, you can certify yourself to use a Decimator itself for 1 cert point. It'd make this game so much more versatile. In fact I only have Special Assault for the Deci, what harm could it do?

Hmm... Well despite the fact that Doop and I seem to spend alot of time killing each other in game, I think I have to agree with him on this. Give each weapon it's own point value and let the players mix and match. Certainly would cut down on the decimator whining.

If they made all weapons common-pool, I'd be a very curious Thottbot reader a few days later.
