On the 8th I leave for Melbourne, Florida with the rest of the rowing team. We are doing a lame indoor race on the rowing machines- pretty much like having a marathon on treadmills. I'll be doing 1000 meters in about four minutes. Melbourne is four hours from Miami, and I'm not waking up at 4 AM, so we're going to leave tomorrow afternoon to a hotel.
Here is the link: http://www.southernsprints.org/ I won't be telling you which person I am, but I'm doing High School Novice Men, event 35. (NOTE: Our times are BSed. Coach made us look slower. The time next to mine isn't even a 1000 meter time, it's a 2000.)
I hope to not suck too badly, the coaches tell me I shouldn't do too bad. I am not going to win, there are some god-like rowers out there.

There's actually such a thing as a rowing team? Why do schools always have lame ass sports like wrestling, chess, rowing,I mean my god those suck, they need to make a paintball team/club,a fencing team/club,and even a boxing team, get rid of these stupid ass sports.
 tear it up boss!
at least on a machine you dont have to worry about sinking.
good luck, let us know how you do.

Wrestling is lame and fencing isn't? Wrestling is fuckin amazing, and it's almost exactly like boxing, except it's less about speed, and more about technique (IMO much more skill is involved, as opposed to boxing where natural size plays a factor). Chess is good, but it's a god damn activity, so it's not in the same class. And rowing sounds awesome, I'd join if my school had one. Of course, they're nothing compared to hockey and rugby :D
BTW chess and paintballing aren't sports.
Oh ya, GL Aztec. Must blow to row on a machine rather than outside.

hey if your good at crew you automattically get into harvard. My brothers roomate in Highschool had like 1280 SAT scores and a 3.5 GPA and he got into Harvard because he was really good at rowing a damn boat!!! So anway crew is a good sport to make connections, its right up there with gold, and tennis. Very important sports to the business world.

If you would have told me I would have come in fourth out of fifth at Melbourne, I would have given anything for that. And you know something? Not only am I going to Lakeview in Orlando, I'm going to Turkey Lake in Orlando! AND KEY BISCAYNE! AND THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!!
AND THEN WE'RE GOING TO THE NATIONALS TO TAKE BACK THE TROPHY!!!!!!!!!!
YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You all guessed wrong. For some reason, nobody in the 12:25 timeslot showed up. There were five of us. I got an 8:01, beating the shit out of my old "best".

Cool, good job. I have a lot of friends who row and it's all they seem to talk about ever. I was even thinking about joining a team, but I decided not to... unless if there are spots open for the guy up front with the megaphone. :)

Funny, I thought, shit I wonder where Aztec is rowing today as I was down in Melbourne on Saturday.
I was over at the Spacecoast Aeromedical Institute doing some hypoxia training in a hypobaric chamber. Dunno how far away that is from where you were.
HYPOXIA IS FUN!

Clemente Center, Florida Tech. Not much of an university.
I'm not sure where Space Coast is, exactly. It sort of overlaps Melbourne? Or not? But that was close, I guess.
Overall, in the entire HS Novice Men's, I got 23/28. Not bad, considering I've got like a 20lb weight disadvantage...ok fine, I'm a little chubby.
