View Full Version : Mouse Sensitivity for Sniping

I picked up sniping a few weeks ago and have been steadily getting better at bringing down the elusive moving target. However, one of my problems has been mouse sensitivity.
I use a Logitech mx700 wireless optical mouse. When playing other games and on the internet, I can move the mouse just slightly, very slowly, and it will pick up the movement with precision, which it should (after all, it is an mx sensor). But when playing PS, even with mouse sensitivity set to maximum, it will not pick up slight movements and is not sensitive enough for sniping.
Is there anyway to override the mouse settings in PS and get it to be as sensitive and precise as it is when playing other games? This would make sniping much easier.

You can turn on mouse smoothing.

You want to turn off mouse smoothing since it averages your movements.

Yeah, you turn mouse smoothing off, not on. I had this problem when I first set up my optical mouse. You also might wanna turn off "enhance pointer presicion" in your mouse options. It basically is the same thing as mouse smoothing.

I don't know i find my presision much higher with a lower setting, mostly becuase when your flying if its up very hight the smalles overshot can ruin your aim/flightpath

I always have my vehicle steering sensitivity about one pixel from the lowest it can go. Anything higher makes my air vehicle steer all the way to the left or right with a 1mm movement of my mouse. Looks kind of funny, but is otherwise pointless for straight flying. Regular sensitivity is way up there, though. I have also noticed that the sensitivity in other online games (Counter-Strike, etc.) is capable of going up to four times what Planetside can do. At that level, you could do about ten 360s just by moving your mouse from one side of the pad to the other. Not quite my thing, I have to say. :)

Sensitivity cutbacks was the devs answer to fix the turning radius on the Pheonix back in beta. Used to be you could fly a circle around the courtyard and smack yourself in the ass with the missle.

Thanks for the tips, I'll see if turning off mouse smoothing helps. However, I don't have a mouse precision option in my mouse properties. All I have under the "motion" tab is "cursor speed and acceleration", "smart move", and "cursor trails". Is acceleration the same as precision? Acceleration can be set to none, low, medium, or high. There's a checkbox that says "disable acceleration in games" as well.

My mouse pointer gets more "jumpy" when I snipe unless I use mouse smooth...
Getting a new, faster mouse with higher DPI soon though.
