I just recently reformatted my newer computer and I'm having a strange problem. My performance from my vid card has been close to ass lately. It's bugging the shit out of me. I have a Radeon 9700 pro, CORSAIR 1024 mb pc3200 ddr400 ram, AMD Athlon 2700. I have the newest drivers so I'm not sure what else I can do... anyone have any ideas?

I'm at work but when I get home I'll be on. Be on IRC LATE! or actually pm me if I'm not there.

k.

I'm not gonna be on late.

Make sure you have the newest drivers for your mb.
Make sure that the catalyst drivers are installed next.(3.0 i think)
Make sure that the dx9 comes in next.

WHat are your actual symptoms?

FPS sucks in UT2k3 or T2 (T2 is gay with ATI so I'm not too surprised about that) In unreal my fps jumps around and it's not even that high considering I don't have the settings all the way up. When I did a benchmark test on my comp it said I was using DirectX 8 but I installed 9. Made sure I did twice so I'm not sure what's going on there. My mobo drivers I believe are up to date but if you can find some that I didn't drop me a link. I have a SOYO SY-KT400 DRAGON Ultra (Platinum Edition) mobo.

A) How's that mobo treat you?
B) Make sure you do it in the right order. It has to be in a certain order. Also make sure you have the latest drivers.

Mobo seems fine... unless it's the cause of my problems. Don't know yet. I have the drivers for the radeon and i have directx and I believe I have the newest drivers for my mobo as well.

You're running DX9 and cat 3.0a i assume

check your smartgart settings in the advanced tab under settings in your display properties

it should have AGP4X (or 8X if you have a 8X mobo), and fastwrite should be on.

after that, click the troubleshoot tab and check that hardware acceleration is at full and write combining is on.

then go start -> run ->tye dxdiag and hit enter
go to the display tab and check that these 3 are on:
Direct draw acceleration
Direct 3d acceleration
AGP texture acceleration

then go to start -> run -> type smartgart and hit enter
and make sure AGP (and PCI) read and write are on

Reboot whenever the system asks you to and be sure to recheck if the settings really changed. if that dosn't help then it's time to crack open the bios and check the settings there.

I checked the settings like you said Zetrais but they were at what they needed to be. I called the company I ordered my parts from and I'm returning basically all of it. I'm replacing several things like mobo, cpu, etc. figure for a little more money I might as just well max everything out.
