First off, we are gonna meet up at the pier in the afternoon. Restaurants, shops, and beach! The pier owns. After hanging out and talking/shopping/walking for the afternoon, we're gonna eat at Ruby's restaurant. Then we are gonna head back to her house and i will probably be there overnight. Her mom is spending that night at her boyfriends so Nikki and I have the house to ourselves. We plan to watch movies, exchange gifts, and then camp out in her living room overnight :) watching movies, sipping soda, and maybe more if i'm lucky :lol:. What are your guy's plans? Anything special? (pics required ;))

Valentine's Day started in the time of the Roman Empire. In ancient Rome, February 14th was a holiday to honor Juno. Juno was the Queen of the Roman Gods and Goddesses. The Romans also knew her as the Goddess of women and marriage. The following day, February 15th, began the Feast of Lupercalia.

The lives of young boys and girls were strictly separate. However, one of the customs of the young people was name drawing. On the eve of the festival of Lupercalia the names of Roman girls were written on slips of paper and placed into jars. Under the rule of Emperor Claudius II Rome was involved in many bloody and unpopular campaigns. Claudius the Cruel was having a difficult time getting soldiers to join his military leagues. He believed that the reason was that roman men did not want to leave their loves or families. As a result, Claudius cancelled all marriages and engagements in Rome. The good Saint Valentine was a priest at Rome in the days of Claudius II. He and Saint Marius aided the Christian martyrs and secretly married couples, and for this kind deed Saint Valentine was apprehended and dragged before the Prefect of Rome, who condemned him to be beaten to death with clubs and to have his head cut off. He suffered martyrdom on the 14th day of February, about the year 270. At that time it was the custom in Rome, a very ancient custom, indeed, to celebrate in the month of February the Lupercalia, feasts in honor of a heathen god. On these occasions, amidst a variety of pagan ceremonies, the names of young women were placed in a box, from which they were drawn by the men as chance directed.


The pastors of the early Christian Church in Rome endeavored to do away with the pagan element in these feasts by substituting the names of saints for those of maidens. And as the Lupercalia began about the middle of February, the pastors appear to have chosen Saint Valentine's Day for the celebration of this new feast. So it seems that the custom of young men choosing maidens for valentines, or saints as patrons for the coming year, arose in this way.

my wife and I have boycotted V-day for over 15 years. regardless of what we try to do, it always...ALWAYS ends in complete disaster, either for us or some other poor unsuspecting soul. :scared: jinxed from the word go, I tell ya.

I got absolutely drunk pissed on Friday night, and ended up seeing my ex girlfriend (the bitch who dumped me for another girl) with her fatarse girlfriend, then all Saturday, I just hung around town, all my friends were with people, and in the end, I got dragged out by Vic, who was then having problems with her girlfriend (why are all the girls I know cute lesbians?) and so I had to sort that out.

Valentine's Day was lovely for this couple. Martyr and I had to avoid the traffic from the Daytona 500, so we ended up in the end of town near the gun shop. We found this restaurant that looked cute and casual so we went in and noticed it smelled like antique shop. The hostess announced to us that it was "Valentine's Day Buffet only", so we said what the hell and went it. It was adorable. There was a piano player and candles on all the tables. We giggled because we were the youngest people in there - I think the average age was 65.

Then we came home and curled up under a down comforter and watched "Punchdrunk Love" on Blizzard's portable DVD player. It was the first Valentine's Day that I actually got to spend with my boyfriend (I've either not had a boyfriend or had a boyfriend in Bromley - no, not Frag). It was very nice.
