cases and lights

i need/want a new case. the one i have now is fine, but i want to get one with lights and stuff. one with clear sides and stuff. also, what are some good lights? ones that last. want to start going to LAN parties ...

There are a ton of cases to choose from. You should prolly try and narrow down the style you want to go for.

Do you want one thats already fully pre-modded or one that will be good for you to customize and mod yourself?

One type that is always very nice and flashy looking is a Acrylic case, either clear or UV reactive. You have to be careful with them or you will scratch them up, but they don't cost to much and really as far as looks good they can be made to look incredible. Especially if you throw in some water cooling with UV reactive water coloring and some blacklights, etc.

Daleon: a premoded case is what am looking for. the style ... jez, are there styles? could you give me a link to some of the cool ones?

Don't get an all acrylic case if you're gonna be carrying it around to lan parties. Acrylic scratches VERY easily and it will start to look like crap very quickly. If you get any big scratches in the case, it will stand out like a soar thumb when it gets lit up by your case lights. Looks really nasty. Clear cases are for people who never move their computer.

I suggest you get a standard mid-tower steel case with a window in the side. You can get etchings of different logos to put on the windows, or you can get frosting kits and frost the whole window. That makes the window glow whatever color your lights are.

As far as lighting goes. If you just want to light the case, get a cold cathode. They're usually more expensive than neons, but neons can get very hot, which is bad for your hardware. If you want to do some cool designs with your lighting, get some el wire. It's basicly a lighted rope, which you can do a lot of cool stuff with.

Either way, do at least some of the case modding yourself. Otherwise you're just another poser.
