I'm gonna be seriously bummed out for a while. I'll probably swear off games for a good while. What would you do? I can't imagine how bummed I'd be.

Bah, you guys worry too much. Even if it doesnt meet your standards of the "best game ever", it still looks like a great game even from the movies. Plus, most of the fun comes out of being in groups..which not even the devs can take away from us! :cheers:

Im glad others are worrying about this as well.
I just have this feeling that the guns wont feel good(if thats the right words).
Like in UT2003, one of the problems i found was that when i fired the standard rifle, it didnt feel like i was firing anything and that turned me away from the game. And a few other reallyu great potential games had the same problem. (Battlefield 1942 from what i can remember also has the same problem)).

This might sound pretty weird, but having the right feel for a gun is pretty critical for me anyway.

Oh well i just hope they get it right.

Nav, any game that lets us inflict damage on a massive scale is going to rock. And there's the added bonus that I get to bounce a grenade off of a wall and blow you up every now and again. :)

hamma, did the guns feel substantial? like in MOHAAS or SOF2, those games have firearms that feel solid and substantial, unlike BF 1.2 (just played an accidentally released version of 1.3 and they are definitely taking steps to correct the wispiness of the weapons)

From the videos, the Punisher looked like it had a lot of kick each and every shot. Plus the gernade part is single load which is so COOL :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

If this game doesn't totally suck, I am going to play it till my eyes bleed. I've been burned by high expectations before (including my number 1 disappointment of all time: I'84), but I'm one of those Persistence fiends and I am starving for a skill based competitive experience with enough content to keep me happy.

Well at one point when I had just started playing FPS and other games that use handles, I had thoughts of making my own Clan called Team X ( tx_ ) and just started using it on my handle.

Didn't even occur to me that it was the state abrev. for Texas til one of my current clan mates (who's in Canada) started greeting me with 'Yo Texas Maddog!'.

i did this exact same thing with anarchy online and it turned out to suck so much. but then again this is a game i have waited for to long. i have waited for game that has bases air vehicles cammanders tanks massively online multiplayer so if this game turns out bad my god so help when i get older i will mAKE A GOOD GAME BECAUSE IT IS PATHETIC ON WHAT SOME MORONS HAVE BEEN MAKING AND CALLING IT GOOD.

well if you must know,
Since my friend loves MAX's
I started out trying to make a little gif clip.
It would start out having a buggy race accross the screen (maybe yelling for help).
Then after away a MAX would be seeen running like the wind, chasing the buggy(maybe have some slow mo effects i dunno),
Then i was thinkinig eitehr ending it with that, or having the max blow up the buggy. Either way i thought it would be humourous.

But alas, i couldnt doit, as i dont have a pic of a sidways MAX, or a little clip of him walking sideways.
So i just dled a little movie clip from Planetside universe website, convertited all the frames to a gif and strang them together to what you c now(its a bit slow must be max fps for a gif image).
Its pretty cool it came down to about 244Kb.

And thats the reason.

Photoshop 7 is the program. It's expensive, but fortunately for me work picked up the tab.

Once you have found good source material you need a nice display font. There are freeware fonts all over the web, and once you pick a good one you just have to put your words together with your pictures and start compressing it.

I glazed over the steps where you use filters, blending options, brushes, and image extraction, but you're better off walking into Barnes & Noble and flipping thru.... erm, yeah, buying (I would never suggest that you just read a few tips in the store and go home to try them out). Or you can go to one of a billion cool photoshop sites where you will find lots of tutorials and examples of cool techniques.

once you've mastered a few techniques, you pick up a few more, and so on until you have a good bag of tricks and a visual style develops in your work. Note that this is not a quick process, but it is its own reward.

Let's say for example that you and your friends decide that while the name you've settled on for an outfit is kinda cool, you all want to change it right before the beta comes out. Maybe a few people know about your outfit even though you haven't picked an empire or started recruiting. However, changing the name can cause a lot of confusion, and you could lose any ground you may have made in the pre-recruiting publicity. Well, now it's a good thing you spent some time learning photoshop because a few minutes and an idea are all you need to make the announcement in a sneaky, interesting way that might not get moved to another forum. ;)

And then you end up with something like this:
