Its Gibson's new flick. Got a lot of buzz, I am gonna go see it for sure, shows the last 12 hours or so of Jesus Christs life before the ressurection. Based on teh Gospels, lot of controversy over it.

I honestly couldn't care less about the "true" story of Christ. I don't care about the fake stories of Christ why the hell would I want to see the supposedly true one?
Bleh. I'll probably end up seeing it DVD if anything.

Meh... im not a very religious person. Infact im not religious at all. I just whore off the religions and celebrate christmas, and had easter when I was younger, and not go to church or anything. I guess that makes me an atheis (don't know how to spell it).
Errrr... anyways I'll only see it if I have to. I may end up watching it at home when its released on DVD.
Apparently the Pope saw it and said he liked it.

not the kind of movie I go to the movies to watch. I don't understand why there would be controversy over it though. I mean they've made everything into a movie so why not the Bible.

Its not the bible, just the last hours of Christ. And its the **** that are screaming about it, saying this flick will lead to anti-*** violence.

They themselves contribute the majoirty cause that leads to the anti-*** violence, not movies. I read about that movie in some magazine, some rabi's approved of the movie and thought it portrayed the **** like they would have been at the time.

I'll probably go see it. Mostly for the history, I love history, especially that time period. Probably not going to be extremely accurate but its ok, better than most of the crap movies that come out nowadays. First heard about it on cnn, they had a little debate with a rabbi and some other guy. The rabbi says that the **** were portrayed too violently. Like was said, thats pretty much how people were back then. I doubt there will be mass anti-semitism or anything because of it.
Mel always makes a good movie. I'll rent it.
edit: just forget that Lethal Weapon crap, those don't count.

Religion course is a joke...don't fret about it.
Movie looks okay, but it's not enough to make me go see it in theatre. On satellite, ya, maybe.
Edit: What's wrong with Lethal Weapon? I loved those.

omg dharkbayne I agree with u????? *faint*
Im going to go see it, my philosphy on religion is this. . . Im a Christian, but a non-denominational (sp?) one. I dont believe that any particular church has it right, and that doctrine is a man-made part to religion that is not necessary and ruins it for some people, but thats a whole nother rant. Ive already got advance tickets for it, for me and some of my friends. And there are talks about some **** protesting it at theaters and trying to stop people from goin in it. All I can say is, COME ON BABY, MAKE MY DAY!
Oh and Onizuka-GTO, that can be arranged.

Yeah I'm going we also get $5 (normal price is $9) cause my church rented the place.

I will be there. I am interested in how they depict the cruciiction. So many movies/plays about Jesus always make the crucifiction to be almost no big deal, I heard this one depicts it more according to scripture. Besides, I normally don't pass up the opertunity to support whorthwhile Christian media.

Atheism is basically stating that there is no higher power, no higher authority at all, that you believe in nothing but this life and what we see now. Agnostic (as commonly accepted) is basically saying you aren't sure, that you reserve judgement. I could be wrong but from what you're saying it seems you lean more toward agnostic than atheist, although atheist just kind of seems to be a term many latch on to.
I'm sure I'll see it, it's piqued my curiosity on a few levels. I give Mel credit for making a film in a dead language, and for his passion to put a film out which obviously won't go over well with a number of different groups. Unfortunately, any time any film with religion as the centerpiece is made it's bound to leave us with pathetic groups trying to get some camera time. We saw it with Dogma, we saw it with Last Temptation of Christ, we're seeing it with this. Too many people with an agenda who are wanting to piggy back the publicity of the film to force their views on the rest of us.
