Do you actually see out of your eyes, or do your eyes just gather information, and the brain generates an image from that information, and this is what you see?

I think the brain sees for you, the eyes are just the relay point...

The eyes carry visual data to the occipital lobe of the brain, which processes and interprits the data giving you the end result - "Oh shoot, there's a squirrel in my Cocoa Pebbles."

the Rods and Cones (optical receptors in your eye) react to light, Rods react to amount of light and Cones react to Colors (hense why u cant make out colors in low light)...and when light rays hit them, the light breaks apart the pigment in the rods/cones, and triggers cells behind them to become electrically active, which then triggers a nervous system chain reaction, which travels down the optic nerve to the brain...the brain is what puts it all together

You see from the point of view of your eyes, yet you actually see from your brain.

The eyes, and its parts, as far as science knows today, are just receptors. I think thats about all that can be said, in a general sense.
