I finished the "World War" series by Harry Turtledove this summer, and I got the sequel series, "Colonization" a while ago, recently finished the first book in that series, Colonization:Second Contact.
And I'm waiting for the 2nd book in that series which I didn't get in my last order from Amazon.com (I'm in sweden, so it can take up to a month for them to send packages here :/ )
So in the meantime I've started reading on "The Great War" - series, and the first book is called American Front.
All those books are "what if", and the World War series is a what if aliens invaded during WW2. And of course, the aliens got some weaknesses and such, so it gets interesting. Nice series of books.
The sequel to that series is Colonization, which is about after the WW2, and I won't tell anything more about that if anyone wants to read them. :p
And "the Great War" series is a; What if the Confederates became a nation of their own? Well, thanks to England and France, and the fact that the U.S. was in a tight situation, they had to declare peace with the Confederates (if they hadn't France and England would have joined the war on the Confederates side).
That was in 1862 then, then the story quickly jumps to 1914, and the prince of Austria gets killed in Sarajevo, like in the real pre-WW1. And the Austrians threatens war on Serbia.
As a member of the Austro-German alliance, the United States says that a war against a member in the alliance is a war against every member of the alliance.
And as a member of the Quadruple Entente, the Confederate States would be in war with the U.S. if that happened.
Well, you can see what comes out of that.
When I'm done with those books I might start to read the Terry Pratchett books. :)

i should have finished the halo series before getting into honor harrington, because im curious if that girl that was shot in the face lives, because the author was a little unspecific if she was in hibernation in the pelican, which is still intact at the end of halo, or was she put into hibernation in the pillar of autum, it could be either, and signs point to either.
EDIT DONT TELL ME!

If you want a LONG series check out the Wheel of Time (http://www.tor.com/jordan/) series by Robert Jordan (He's the original author of Conan the Barbarian series). WoT includes 11 mega-novels and in every book he introduces more and more characters. He doesn't stop introducing them, but the funny thing is he develops almost all of them, so it's always worth your time remembering who is who. I've read 1 through 9. He just released volume 10 and a prequel novel, but I'm not sure if that finishes up the series.
