I'm new here so tell me if you think im out of line and i will leave, no if ands or buts.
But i just can't get over this thought of revamping the certification tree. I want to get as many infulitial people on my side and seing as how this is the number one fansite i figured i would come here to speak as well.

I don't see a problem with the current system, and by implementing your system we would see MUCH less meds and engis, because they would all spend their certs just to get a few weapons. They wouldn't have enough cert points to do both.
Edit: Sorry for killing it...

Yeah i don't like it that much, spending 3 certs on eng and not being able to repair your stuff, that utterly bogus. Sweeper Perec. for JH is bad it should be the Empire MA just like the rest. I like the certs the way they are, its a fine system there are just a few tweeks needed to be made, like a toning down of all HA.
The game is set up to be skill based. And it does that quite well, except for a few, on the whole, minor things. If your a crapy player then you will get owned at every corner. That the thing about this game, it requires a little different set of skills than other FPS's.
Realy its not that bad of an idea, and some things could be derived from it. one thing is making the Tanks harded to get, buggies are very nice, but few people have them, and if they do then they get owned by tanks, make the tank a 5 pointer. Or have a limit on how many tanks there can be on a continent.

The current system does restrict high BR players. I don't carry Heavy Assault on either of my characters (BR20/CR4 and BR18/CR2), because I need the room for aircraft, AMSes, advanced hacking or medical, etc. I can't carry both Anti-Vehicluar and Special Assault, so I make do with the Punisher (though the Gauss always seems to appear in my hand). I curse my alternate character for not having the ability to mine a courtyard, although I can revive my comrades; similarly, I curse my main charcter for not being able to revive people, even though I can hack that Mag. Take it from me, high-ranked characters can only do so much with 23 cert points.
Actually, making the cert requirements more onerous would likely suppress support classes, since just arming yourself would take most of your points. Before the patch that combined certs together, I had 10 cert points sunk in three planes, no MA, and two advanced support certs(CE/hacking). Talk about limitations.

ps isn't the real world and there isn't enough good orginization and communication to make it the real world

Cert Tree is fine the way it is, spending 5 points on Adv Med and not being able to heal yourself is stupid, same with Engi, the rek thing maybe, but doubtfull.
Any BR1 Character Can kill any BR20 Character, And getting killed at every turn? Pfft they had it easy, should have played first day of retail, running round with MA and Rexo Fighting Magriders and jumpy Max's.

I think the only changes that need to be made in the cert tree is you should be able to get rid of as many certs as you want before having to wait 24 hours to recert

I added it up, Right now I'm BR 20 and use all my certs. If this was live, it would take 31 cert points to get what I have now. I see one MAJOR problem. Lib cost 5 certs, Attack aircraft, skeeter, then Lib. Rever costs 7, skeeter and attack aircraft. You have to spend 1 cert for Attack aircraft to get any of them, then you have to have skeeter to get anything else. Good concept idea, but I don't think it would work really well in game.

thats the major thing, certs that are pre reqs that give you nothing, just to waste cert points

I honestly think that they should add at least 10 more weapons to the game in order to keep some diversity. It would be much more interesting than the same old HA vs. HA and MA vs. MA fights :bang: .

I am the opposite of Vis Armata. I don't carry as many support certs as I would like on my primaries (br19 and 20) because I can't live without HA/SA/engie and medic. So on the 20 for support I have CE and magrider and on the 19 once I hit 20, I'll have magrider and adv hack. I still need an Adv. medic but I'm working on that (I have a char with unimax, infil and medic and I think I'll throw adv medic on there after the next BR and consider it good to go).

I have to agree...that system seems like the solution to a problem that doesn't really exist.
Yes, it is intimidating for new players to come into this game. At the same time though, there should be someone willing to take them around and show them the ropes...especially if that person has been here since around retail. This game is not that hard once you find your niche in it. I've started numerous alts and none of them have had problems racking up kills once I get used to the weapons that I made them to try out. As it stands, I have a minimum of 3 characters per empire, all a little bit different...so there's still more than enough specialization to be done out there. Kill totals don't mean anything, but I know what it's like to start out in today's PS.
Reducing the flexibility that BR offers will lose SOE more subscriptions than it will ever gain. In an ideal world, your ideas have merit. In the real world, never in a million years...SOE is dumb, but not when their bottomline is at stake.
