Well after playing for over 13 months I'm done.
It's not that I no longer like PlanetSide, it's a good game, but I just can't handle paying Sony any money. I'm not going to waste your time whining about what they've done to me so I'll just say good-bye. You'll still see me around PSU, but I won't be playing anymore.

Don't know who you are, but it's usually never fun to see anyone leave. I bet you'll return to PlanetSide soon enough, though, as you'll be hanging around here -- reading some of the cool stuff here has that effect on people. I know, I'm one of those people.

I'm not leaving Planetside. This game has everything I'm looking for in a game. And if any start saying, "What about the CTD? Jackwhores? Lashwhores? Unbalanced gameplay? n00bs? et al" then I'll just kindly give you a swift kick in the nuts. If you feel that your planetside gaming experience isn't what you want it to be, perhaps you're expecting too much from it? Or, that your outfit expects too much from you? Or that your outfit really REALLY stinks?

Look at yourself first before painting such a broad stroke about Planetside. It's a great game.

meh... once Battlefield Vietnam is released, i'll probably take a break from PS myslef. If things are even better after a month or two, i'll consider buying another game card.

My sub's up tomorrow, and I am about 1/4 bubble from BR20, 2/3 bubble from CR3. I think that is my sign that its time to go.

I think more people will go until the dev start delivering patches at a more frequent time, I know testing patches are all good and well, but I think people are more forgiving with frequent patches with bugs, but quickly get corrected with a new frequent patch, then those time-delayed patches still with bugs.
Fast frequent patches give the players a sense of activity and commitment of the Developers, and also give an incentment for players to continue to play as the know new patches might make a difference in the game play.
Well that's my opinion, what's yours?

I couldn't agree more. I myself have never even considered quitting Planetside, but it is far moer interesting with new content. Still, I feel that the lack of patches every once in a while leads to some time to build better ties with your Outfit and friends in-game rather than fondling new toys.

I think the devs put themselves up against a wall with their huge break over the holidays. Bugs can almost be overlooked if a lot of new content is showing up, but a complete lack of new content and completely ignoring the massive number of bugs that you have introduced with prior patches alienates the player base. The fact that they can continue to murder FPS with every patch, and increase crashes, all while seeming pretty oblivious to how it could have happened doesn't breed much confidence. For all the balance issues that have been addressed, and for the minor bits of new content that have been released, the game truly runs worse today than it did on release day. That's sad, and it implies that the devs don't really have a grasp on how to make the game run properly. I've increased my RAM, gotten cable internet, gotten a nice video card and there are times when my game is playing worse than it did back with my old system specs on a 56k. This should never happen. I'm about to upgrade my RAM once again, and that's the last thing I'm planning on upgrading for this game. I've already upgraded more than I should have needed to, I just can't believe the devs are able at this point to fix what they've broken.

Yup, it's lame. They don't seem capable of returning the game to its smooth running stability from before Core Combat. I have had some improvements (namely the rexo patch virtually eliminated those awful < 1fps situations) but really I am having trouble convincing myself to renew my sub when really we are talking about small improvements alternating with huge losses in performance with every single patch. I think I am starting to accept that while Planetside has great potential, it has failed to truly deliver on that potential.

Now the wait for the next MMOFPS. I know I will be playing whatever that game is, even if SOE is the one releasing it.

They just have to give more NEW stuff to the game. Like, since release, the only new vehicles are the Lib, Skyguard and Lodestar. Weapons, just the AT ones. Instead of changing everything, add more. Then it wouldn't bore so many people.
