Anyone who's played World War 2 Online knows this is a major problem with that game. Infantry can move through supposedly solid walls/vehicles by a technique known as clipping that allows you to move through corners and joins in the object surfaces.
How is PS going to beat this? I believe it's possible to clip in many games. I'd hate to see facilities falling and vehicles dying to clippers in PS.

No. That's not currently an issue in PS. And if it *was* an issue, we'd fix it before release.

I'm supposing this will be found during Beta. Will we have sessions where people are just requested to find flaws in the world and will have weapon locks in place?

My understanding is that basically it's unfixable. I'm yet to see an fps that didnt have some sort of clipping possible.
We'll soon see.

Perhaps I'm not clear on the issue?
Clipping is a term we use within the industry. Maybe the term you're using doesn't describe how we use that word.
Can you explain, please?
By the way, JRavey...the answer is...maybe. We've thought about it and will probably do some of that in limited fashion early on...but that's really what Internal Beta is for and we have a team of QA folks doing that now.

I'll do my best.
Based on my experience and what I've read, there's always a problem in corners of solid objects like tanks and buildings. You can see things like arms or legs sticking out of corners and in some games you can look into buildings or even shoot into them in the where walls join at the corners. I've beta tested tons of top games and frequently found clippable solids that no one else could.
I was just looking at the WW2OL forums because there was a good post there not too long ago explaining it.
It probably won't be as big a problem in PS because most of the clipping problems occured in WW2OL in the PRONE position.
BTW Smokejumper, I hope you know that kidz post thing I did and you locked was tongue in cheek. I want kids to play too. I was making fun of those who take this kid thing too far.

The clipping issues you described absolutely should not occur in PlanetSide. The only instance of this right now is due to a bug (player feet sticking out of the bottom of the vehicle...funny...but easily fixable). I don't believe there are any other instances of this behavior in PlanetSide and we certainly wouldn't allow anything like weapon muzzles to protrude.
So as far as cheating goes, this is not an issue.
If you're talking about something visual only like, when a corpse falls to the ground, it sometimes interpenetrates a wall (which has no real gameplay ramifications, only aesthetic) then yes...we still have a few of those issues. We'll get rid of them as we go.
