With all the new patches, what should my first certs be? Before the new ones I would get MA + HA, but now, I don't know ..

Dont go UniMax. Seriously.

The proliferation of AV will leave you sobbing. The Phoe's and Strikers will chew you apart. Go with HA, if you like grunt-style gameplay.

I agree w/ UniMax, even with the cert changes and the proliferation of AV. All 3 are worthwhile to use and the Starfire will have you levelling fast enough it won't matter. Added benefit is the ease with which you can drop it since it's a single cert.

For Vanu, UniMAX is a good one. A good MAX user can get some BEP fast. Plus later you can ditch it and get those 5 certs back in one shot. If you want to be a grunt, then MA and a vehicle. Lightnings and Mossies are great for beginners. I even enjoy starting out as a CE. You won't have anything other than a suppressor and your deployables for awhile, but I find the challenge fun.

If you're gonna be Vanu, then grab MA and HA. As of the new patch, the Lasher is really quite powerful, and BR6 will net you ReXo as well, so that you'll be able to use Lasher/Punisher or Pulsar.

Get Starfire, camp trees and get to br12 in a couple hours.

On a new character, I usually go with MA, AV, and ATV. You can kill infantry, put a dent in vehicles, and not have to run or hitch rides.

Having done this a great number of times recently (4 VS and 2 TR n00bs):

Unimax is great for anyone, just instant action and try and get into a base defense / tower defense battle either solo or with a small squad. Alternatively, grab the AA Max and swat some skeeters for big BEP.

Alternatively, grab Armored Assault, Assault Buggy, and a partner. Good Flailing can get you to BR6 in under an hour so you can nab that first implant, and setting a Skyguard up next to your Flail means you can switch to the Skyguard guns if a hostile flyboy shows up to spoil your fun. Skyguards mow better than the mag does now and have better manuverability to boot if you're looking for some mowing kills, and the thresher sucks less than you'd think - for INFANTRY. Don't take a Thresher to a tank battle, they'll just laugh loudly while they frag you. For that matter, the same advice applies to the Mag.

If you want to go aerial, try the Liberator. Make sure you're in the same squad with your bomber and go spam some vehicle terms, you'll get BEP at a pretty consistant rate until they get the AA out. Lib / Armored is a good combo if you're -not- VS because you already have a bomber - after the AA comes out, you can grab your tank and clear it away for more BEP and confusion. The Reaver and Mosquito are great vehicles, but unless you're an ace pilot they can be a frustrating first cert..

Basically, you're looking for certs that provide an "all in one" package like the MAX or a vehicle. I would avoid MA/anything unless you plan on using the MA weapons - you've only got 6 cert points at BR3 and you've gotta make em count. Even sniping, which would normally be the exception, uses too many support certs to be done well as a lowbie.

Of course, you've only gotta get to BR6 before you can get MA/HA/ReXo, and then the kills really start rolling in..

Excellent idea after you have seen that you suck to much to do anything besides lock-on and spam.

Hey Vick, nobody would do it if it didn't work so damn well.

Asked and answered, Vick.

No need to get sassy.
