View Full Version : Will Pentium 4 fix load times

I can't truly complain about the game performance. It does slow down a little too often, but overall runs OK. I do have a problem with how long it takes to load the continent. I am a transporter so this is a problem when trying to transport teammates because they have to wait a long time for me. During these load times I notice the message that it runs great on Pentium 4. Will this speed up the load times considerably? If so does the Ghz amount matter. I'm looking in the lower price range so 1.8 would be ideal. Will this still work? Also will it help with performance during gameplay?

what do you have now?
a p41.8 would not be adviasble unless you have a very crappy system
notice that the add is for HT p4 those only come above 2.4 i think

Loading time is based more on your ram then your processor. And 1.8 is kind of old technology and I'm sure you can find something higher for almost as cheap. I myself prefer athlons to pentiums, and they are usually a bit cheaper.

any lower price althlo like a 2500+ is gona be a better choise than the p4 equiv. until you hit about 3ghz(unless is a 64)

Thx. I got a Pentium III now i think. I'm gonna go with Athlon. Thanks for the advice. One more thing. Right now I have a geforce nvidia fx 5200. Does that have any impact on loading these maps?

Nope. Shouldn't.

OK. I have one last question before I'm done here. What would be more important. RAM or AMD processor. I found out I only have like 400mb of RAM and most people suggest 1gb for this game. This would fix everything from loading times to fps correct? If so I'm definetley getting the RAM.

What motherboard you going for? In your current state a gig of ram and a p3 just wont work becuase i doubt the p3 mobo can support that much, and if ur going for amd your gonna need a new mobo.

I made a mistake. I've got a lower end version of p4 that's not really meant for games.

I admit I'm not a wiz at computers so i don't know exactly what my specs are. All I've got is a list of exactly what was shipped. I don't know if anyone can make sense of that. Nothing has been added except for video card.

Go for the ram first, thats not THAT bad of a processor. I've seen worse. RAM is kind of a getrichquick(performance wise).

Thank you very much. This really helped out a lot.

dude if you have a 2.2 cel you can overclock that sucker so bad, you can get it up to 2.6 ghz or so if you have decent memory, that would help too

However, while All of those helps, the root of the problem is the 5.4 k Hard drive. If you want a load performace boots, you need to get a 7200 RPM hard drive.
Then memory, then CPU and you will not have a load time issue, then you might come across Rendering issues with your graphics card.
