View Full Version : The Coolest Dude

So who's the coolest dude in the history of stage, cinema, live performance, literature, and last and least, real life?

Basically, who's the coolest dude (or dudette) ever? Don't say yourself, we already know you're special.

I gotta say Darth Vader. Caesar may have been a tough guy and all, but the sight of Darthus Vaderus woulda made him fill his toga.

Hmm, this is an interesting question. A couple of dudes come to mind (in no particular order):

1. Rusty, the character that Brad Pitt plays in Ocean's 11. He's slick, casual, keeps his cool, makes eating look good, and has an unshakeable sense of style. Daniel Ocean, played by George Clooney, is pretty cool too.
2. As cliche as it sounds, Boba Fett is very cool. There's not much to say, just that he's, well, cool.
3. Hari Seldon, from The Foundation Trilogy. Based off the behavior and trends in a large group of people, he could predict the future of entire empires and civilizations.
4. Paul Muad'Dib, from Dune. A young prince who becomes a prophet and warrior-king of the Fremen desert people. Excellent story, I suggest it to anyone who's interested in sci-fi. I haven't read the rest of the Dune series, so I hope Paul doesn't become some "uncool."
5. Calvin and Hobbes. The older I get, the neater the kid and the tiger seem to become.
6. Finally, I would probably say that the coolest dude, as least in cinema, is actually a pair of dudes: the Twins from Matrix: Revolutions. Their awesome phase ability and creepy aura really added something different to the movie. I'm really dissapointed that the W. Brothers didn't bother to expand on them (c'mon the Twins are the equivalent of ghosts inside the Matrix, how cool is that?).

Well said, exosloth. Few realize that Samwise was the main character of Lord of the Rings, but so he was. What a great story that was.

I don't have much of a historical perspective. The coolest dude alive is Donald Rumsfeld. In American history, Ben Franklin, a hair above the rest of the Founding Fathers. In world history, perhaps Hammurabi.

In fiction, Don Corleone.

I've never watched either, actually. I guess I had such expectations from what I read, I didn't want a movie or miniseries to let me down.

My list:

Captain Jack Sparrow. Just plain cool.

Any slick character from a con movie. If they are the one who masterminds the plot that that actually works out, bonus points.

The main characters from The Way of the Gun.

Lucius, Seline, and Viktor (from Underworld)

Actually Underworld in general for the plot twists.

Pretty much every character from The Matrix and the Twins from the second in the series.

Han Solo, Indiana Jones and pretty much any other character Harrison Ford played that wasn't in a role in a suspense/drama flick.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it was a nosebleed. Servant hit him in the face w/ a pan, knocked him out, died from blood loss.

EDIT : Captain Jack Sparrow, most badass pirate there is. In the universe.

yea, those dudes were bad ass, like, killing themselves in the most painful way imainable, 3 slices horizontal along their stomach, to prove that they were not afraid, but rather didnt want their enemies to be victorious in killing them. there were some real samurai guys that were just plain bad ass.

oh and you're right dhark. i believe he may have choked on the blood though. all i remember is that it was something very trivial compared to the numerous battles he had fought in

Stage: Henry V from "King Henry V"
Literature: Gatsby from the "The Great Gatsby".
Live Performance: Probably Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam back a whole number of years now.
Video Game: Duke Nukem, no contest.
Cinema: Vinnie Jones as Bullet Tooth Tony in "Snatch".
Real Life: Toss up between Robert Dultry ('ard core rocker) and Sir Richard Branson (throws a damn good party).

No, Maddox is sometimes funny, much in the same way that homeless guy you see screaming and ranting at a brick wall is funny: They both have anger issues and they're both more than a little retarded ;)
