If we dont nuke ourselves into oblivion, an ice age will come along long before that I believe.

I don't think an iceage will whipe the human race out...

No, i think we'll finish ourselves off long before that.

Well... if we don't find some way off of Earth and onto another habitable planet soon (and by soon I mean about another billion years or so) we are gonna fry when Sol starts to grow.

Besides, we will have better information on this soon, with the launching of that new telescope to come (it's better than the Hubble, much better).

I think they are simply talking about the universe ending. Obviously if the universe ends, so will our solar system... in fact it will end much earlier than that, either by a blackhole, or the sun dying, because if I can remember correctly, the sun isn't nearly large enough to become a supernova or blackhole, it will most likely just burn out, then shrink.

But regardless if it whites out we'll have a nuclear (or nucler I can't spell all that well) winter and if for some odd reason we don't freeze radiation will kill us all. It will be total anarchy but I'd personally like to go out with a bang and take someone with me not die of cold....:cool2:

Whoever said another Ice Age is coming along is quite wrong. Infact we are only in the exiting stages of an Ice Age right now. The reason the first Ice Age happened was a meteor smashing into the earth, making ash block out almost all sunlight, similair to a nuclear winter.

well, really, ice ages happen all the time, most are due to the gravities emited by other planets, then there are also warm ages that happen between ice ages, the last warm age was the warmest ever, right now, were in a warm age, at currently, it is the second hottest it has ever been, throughout the history of the earth, how do they know this? well, if you go to the south pole, carve two holes next to each other, cover one up, get in it, and look at the snow thats iluminated on one side, youll see the history of the earths weather, or at least temperature.

The meteor that killed the dinos. It hit, a shitload of dust was kicked up into the atmosphere, dinosaurs died of diseases and lack of food. The dust blocked out the sun and made it cold, that's why there was no food.

ps, this news is old, and as for the impact of a meteor that killed the dinosaurs, all i can say is, that they found a crater, they looked at its dirt, they looked elsewhere, where it shouldnt be, and it was, suggesting that the dirt was flown into the air, they dated it by seeing how deep it was in the ground, im pretty sure we know a meteor killed dino.

I can say that wrong, The earth has a pattere of going in an iceage, out of it then warm age, then Ice(many cycles you now it doen't just go, dinosuars, meteor, iceage, us, there is alot inbetween dions and the iceage), but recently (reletivly that is) the climate has even out(with a slightly upward slope

Obviously they would include the population growth into their calculations, it's the main factor.

I read somewhere that the sun will grow older and become so huge it will envelope the earth, thus killing , uhhh... everything.

The size of the sun doesn't matter much, it's the radiation that it emits.

Life exists all over the universe. No need to fret.

Live for the swarm.

As the sun increases in size, it wilkl basically just be moving closer toe arth basically cooking it

It will get big and red, cooling down, but still hot enough to ummm... melt the universe

By a couple thousand years the human race will probably developed faster than light travel, colonized other solar systems, and made space colonies in other galaxies. There will probably be no one left on earth becasue it will probably be trashed in a couple hundred years. So if the sun expands we humans will be far away and spreadout, so none of us will die.

I just want to see if anyone noticed this. Paingiver probably (don't quote me on this...plz) just said that the world is coming to an end out of boredom (or pot) and now were all quoting someone elses theorys or making our own about death for all. I'd like to congradulate you for sparking a somewhat intelligent conversation from this > "the worlds gonna end!" BTW I know ash said that first I intentionally put duke in thier because I wanted to see who would notice and I think duke said it better :p~

no solar system will collide with the earth, were all moving the same way at the same speed, its those god damned stars that are flung around from nebulas you have to worry about, and those fucking black holes, you know, theres one not a few thousand light years from here. and also, traveling faster than light will require a few things, one of which is the ability to creat heat hotted than the core of the sun, itll prolly take us 10 thousand years for that one, but the sun wont blow for a million, and by the time we can actualy go about the solar system (faster than light speed is needed for that, well, light speed, itll still take us a few hours to go from one side to the other. thus we need to use much faster than light) we could prolly blow the fuck out of stars with huge cannons.

NOW for moving practicaly across the galaxy, we will need to pass through to another dimension that we cant see, but is there, and then, exit that dimension elsewhere inside it, and we should be able to come out far, far far away, just, travel time inside will be much smaller. but it will require the kind of technology we can never dream of.

also, traveling remotly close to the speed of light will cause Einstines E=MC2 thing to take effect, and thus, as it will seem that we travel for a day, a thousand years will actualy pass for the earth, thus causing your family to die. but they wont notice, itll seem the same to them. so unless your willing to never see anyone you know again, by all means, go. but you have to build it first.

Actually it has been proven that an asteriod hit Earth wiping out all of the dinosaurs in an ice age. But I'm too lazy to go find links, all I know is around Mexico (I think?) a gigantic crater was found underwater that hit around the time dinosaurs began to go extinct. Anything leaving that size crater would cause most definitely cause an ice age.
