Just curious, how do YOU counter the lasher indoors/outdoors. I can only come up with plasma nades but that is still uneffective. Dont give me that bull that the lasher isnt overpowered or that the jackhammer still owns it. The jackhammer i think is actually almost balanced but the frikkin lasher is ridiculas. It doesnt take hardly any skill to own with it. And to get within an effective range to use an MCG is to get into the range of the overeffective range of the lasher.

see there is a problem with sniping. First of all it takes time to get good at and some natural skill to be good with. Second some ppl prefer foot combat over sniping cause being caught in the heat of battle i think is more fun. See you cant just become a sniper. Dont feel bad heavygain i have the same dispute.I think the jackhammer isnt overpowered nor is it underpowered. The lasher is impossible to hide from cause if your behind a tree all they need to do is shoot the sides and slowly kill you. or in one of those crevices in the hallways of bases the same thing. So yeah over or underpowered the lasher is cheap to me no matter what you guys say.

:groovy: i agree with the sniper part but i like to use a rexo with 2 thumpers one with plasma and one with frag. so you shoot like two plasma at the m then quickly switch to the one with frags and finish them of. its quicker than changing ammo. but its a GRIEF getter in close quarters. as of right now i have 675 grief for an hour in a base. BAD MR

I find that gauss/rexo works nice, and I have been using my new bolt driver also.

Yeah,

Get a MCG or Cycler if TR or a Jack or Gauss if NC, if you know how to aim while strafing you can take down Lashers. If you can't aim and can't strafe you are gonna cook.

My way of dealing with them:

Iron man setup.

3 Medkits, Rexo, Personal Shield and Second Wind.

I picked up HA again. That worked for me.
I also found out how to deal with all heavy weapon imbalences and still get tons of kills.

Get a van cert and a good gunner also certed in it on ts and never leave it, ever.
Nothin like running down 10+ unprotected lasher users running from tower to base while some of them desperatly try to do something with their lancers.

Surge is the villain. Once it's fixed, this little problem should dissolve like roofies at a frat party.

Indoors: Wait for surge and get your Rexo/MCG out and just run past him, turn around and waste him.

Outdoors: Can't be the Thumper with plasma's. Or even a Punisher if you don't have the SA cert.

Im a good sniper but it got old at release/beta. I am TR and can overcome a one on one situation outdoors but indoors there is no fucking way to even get close to beating them and keeping more than 40 health. The MCG i use proudly because there is absolutly no way that it is overpowered, the jackhammer is still a little overpowered but i can deal with that.

At least with JH they have to hit people, lasher is just point and hold. Big projectiles and lash, nearly impossible to miss.

I traded in my Jackhammer last weekend for Medic and Adv. Med, and am now happily using a Gauss and Pheonix to consistently do quite well against Lashers, at least in the outdoors. Indoor battles against Lashers are a bit trickier, but I tend to find that the classic Punisher move of plasma 'nade, then spray bullets is quite effective.

aha, m'kaay with JH you have to be very well skilled :groovy: thats why it got the nick "noobhammer" right ....

there was a time where the Lasher was more than just bad... now the orbs move faster then just in slow-mo so you have to take cover ;D

an NC still has a chance with the gause in the field and the JH indoor still rocks (I play nc too)

Take it easy - the nerf will come soon....

Well imo I say get a team of infil and go and get behind the lasher folk boomer them to hell or own them with amp etc. AND THIS IS COMMING FROM A VS COME ON GUYS BE ORIGINAL IF U SEE PEOPLE RUNNING TOWARDS LASHERS AND BEING OWNED USE YOUR HEAD AND DON'T RUN IN THE SAME WAY YOU WILL BE OWNED FIND ANOTHER WAY AND USE YOUR HEAD!

you can still dodge the disco balls, i don't understand how people can say its overpowered now. All that happens is that the lasher reloads a fraction of a second faster, has 5 more extra rounds and the orbs actually "lash" things.
I think is its nice, the extra 5 rounds really do count...

Any newb can pick up a jack and get a kill, but like any weapon it takes skill to use to its full potential. You guys think sgswift or Chizow were newbs?

But whatever, this current lasher is worse, it just needs the lash put back out to like 3m so it is not all buggy and lame.

Make a VS alt with AMS, drive him to your guild mates, Equip 40-60 ppl with lashers and let them handle the VS with their own weapons.

This is coming from a VS? And you actually think that helps your argument? Weird.

By the way, see my comments on the other Lasher thread. Due to the bug, if the Lasher user is firing his weapon than any infiltrator close enough to knife/AMP will die before killing the Lasher user. The lashes will go backwards through the VS player killing the infiltrator. It's not a matter of just using your head, the damned thing is bugged.

One of my favorite things to do is hot drop on a tower far behind enemy lines and hack the tower. I then camp it to see how long I can hold it and usually keep a tally sheet to track my kills. It amuses me to keep my "best" score and try to beat it. It also amuses me when I manage to get a small horde of tanks, aircraft, and other vehicles all tied up around my tower becasue they won't coordinate and bum rush me. So they some in 1, 2, and maybe 3 at a time and die... lol.

I did this last night on Markov against the VS with my TR character. I got 47 kills (many were lashers) with my Rexo/MCG set up. Eventualy a cloaker killed me as I fell back to an upper deck to heal/repair.

This was one of my better runs... usually I don't get nearly that many... my worst was I got owned by the first guy I came across... lol, and my best to date is 73 kills before they stopped coming... :)

My point here is that the counter to the "uber lasher" is tactics and skill. I don't find the weapon to be too overpowering, it's just not the chump easy kill it used to be...

As always though... I'm all for stamping out any possible bugs with the weapon and with anything else in the game.

I've never played as any infil but even before the bug infils got owned "accidentally" by lashers all the time.

And we still are, and that's not an issue. If we're out in front of a Lasher user and they start spamming the area, we'll die. Understood.

What's not acceptable is getting the drop on somebody from behind and still dying without them even bothering to turn around. They can continue to fire straight forward and the orbs will lash backwards and kill the cloaker. That's messed up. Apparently the change they are planning on making is removing the forward and backward lashes, the intention of the lashes was to lash to the sides anyhow giving you a little extra help if the main shot misses the target.

I have been working on lasher counters for a few days. Outdoors, firepower is your friend. Either kill em long range or with combined fire. By combined fire means that both guys work together and double up their firepower. Two guys charging in one at a time will just make two backpacks for the lasher to loot.

For indoors (and this is the toughest nut to crack), your going to have to use superior numbers to brute force overwhelm them. Spamming plasma nades inside can be effective against one or two lashers. BUT, if there are more than that, your not going to seriously damage them. You need to do a max crash with several maxes to punch through their lines, followed up by a bunch of infantry. And it needs to be a coordinated charge (not a group of three, followed by a group of 4, etc.). Finally, once your in the base, you need to keep charging, or those that died will respawn and will end up pushing you back out. Worst mistake I have seen is to stop once you gain the room just downstairs of the exit (yeah, you need to heal/repair, but you don't have time). If you gain this room, you need to push down the halls of the few exits that exist, capping at least a couple of them. Otherwise, the lashers are just going to come back and push you back out again. Let the few support folks that follow rez and repair (R&R) the ones that dropped. BTW, in the few internal battles against the lashers I have been in, support was in HIGH demand. I have never been in a battle where I used all my eng/med banks before (until now). I even setup a new favorite to ensure I carry enough eng/med banks into battle.

Anyway, thats my counter (overwhelming firepower and numbers).

Yes, the lash needs to just be on the sides.

Well tonight i did quite well against the lasher with the rocklet rifle. Extra ammo be damned, all it takes is 6 shots and hees a gonner.

god damn i cant wait for it to just lash sideways,
i spent about a month on this forum before i even got the game and i therefore chose VS so that i could get skill kills, that is not be called a noob/rusher/flooder/bug user
for using the weapons of my empire.
vs was always the weakest, thats y i joined it but now we finally get a decent gun and everyone complains, this is just a simple example of JH noobs feeling left out at not being over powered anymore. tbh imho JH is still too powerful, i get killed in one fecking shot from it on full armour and 120 hp!!!!
my max frined gets gunned in under one clip. wats the point in fighting thopse things.
the answer: so i can steal them :D
if u hate an enemy weapon so much take the chance to STEAL IT.
nuff said tbh
