Somehow i seemed to have acquired a trojan. Now my computer seems to work fine, aside from the fact that i get bombarded by pop ups. I know i have a trojan because on my aim profile there is a link that downloaded a trojan. And it says "new years eve partayy!" so its really old. I can't get rid of this, everytime i sign on its there, even if i deleted it previously. Now this happened to me before, except i solved it by wiping all my AIM files and reinstalling. So i know i got spyware and a trojan. The site that my profile is linked to got taken down, and they have suggested certain spyware and trojan killers. Only problem is they cost money, which i dont have. So how can i get rid of this stupid spyware and trojan? I have already tried Spybot S&D, which can't remove the trojan, but removes some spyware, which comes back quick enough. Anyone have any programs they can send me? Or does anyone have any reccomendations that are free?

Well, find a girlfriend, get real friendly, and then once it's time, be sure to wear it.
For the serious response, try a program called Pest Patrol. Don't have a website link, google it.

... ... see ... your title got my hopes all up for p0rn pics... damn...
Mwahahaha, looks like one of us (www.pstrojans.tk) got into your comp. =D This should be in Tech Support shouldn't it?
Anyway, try Trojan Search/Destroy. Someone told me a while ago that the guys at Spyware Search/Destroy made one for simply viruses, but it might not be true. Try Googling it.

Didn't the Greeks come busting out of the Trojan Horse in the womb of the enemy city?
What the hell kinda name is that? How about RAMPARTS or AEGIS.. You know, something that implies protection, not an outpouring of little troops.
edit: Oh yah, I'm referring to condoms for some reason.

its called a trojan because it is disguized as something innocent comming into your comp then it becomes malevolent...hense why it is called that...unless u are talking abotu the condom, then ya, u DONT want an outpouring of "little troops"

You guys need to get serious and help Neon, and stop talking about your "little troops" please.
Bugger, you're 15. Mentioning offhand that you carry a condom around in your wallet is pretty cheesy at any age.

Good call, Seer.
No offense, Bugger. But sometimes you just gotta know what's gauche and what's not.

This sposed to be a good AV and firewall, 1 year free (http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/register_cart_ms.cfm?CVVX$@GFDSG$YTU=212734). Havn't tried it myself but it scores top notch in all the reviews i've seen.

ur trojan probably also is sending ur serfing info to someone else, that can send passwords, so DO NOT just leave it.

I just use norton for all of my virus raping needs. Free after rebates.

hahaha, that works, i use norton too, just cause it came with the comp...and even tho they are slow to update, it still works against most of the f--ktards that use old trojans to hit ur comp

Yeah. But I already have one copy of norton, so I can trade that one for all future releases. Plus whacha do is get systemworks. Lots of extra little fixing stuff.

http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml
Download from the "Download Startup Control Panel" link. Install it. Read the documentation of how it works. Run it (Start -> Control Panel -> Startup in 2000/Start -> Control Panel -> Classic View -> Startup in XP), stop the trojan from running at start up, effectively rendering it useless. Then navigate to the location associated with the value and delete the file. Post a list of everything in HKLM/run, HKCU/run, Startup (User), Startup (Common) and Run Once and I will tell you what to delete if you can't figure it out. If that doesn't work, it is disguising itself as a system service, I will tell you how to pwn it (and probably your entire boot process) in msconfig.
Do yourself a favour and download Zone Alarm or other free firewall, if you get nasty shit on your system that isn't the latest and greatest in Sub7 technology, atleast it can't get out.

^ oy, don't download that unless your OS is win9x.
everything you need is in msconfig if you need to stop services
