Passion tickets bear 'mark of the beast'

ROME, Georgia (AP) -- Tickets at one movie theater screening Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" are being deemed decidedly unholy.

The number 666, which many Christians recognize as the "mark of the beast," is appearing on movie tickets for Gibson's film at a Georgia theater, drawing complaints from some moviegoers.

The machine that prints tickets assigned the number 666 as a prefix on all the tickets for the film, said Gary Smith, owner of the Movies at Berry Square in northwest Georgia. The 666 begins a series of numbers that are listed below the name of the movie, the date, time and price.

"It's from our computer and it's absolutely a coincidence," Smith said. "It has nothing to do with the film company or any vendor. It's completely in our computer."

In the Bible, the book of Revelation says 666 is the "number of the beast," usually interpreted as Satan or the Antichrist.

Several patrons have made comments about the numbers, and one person who was uncomfortable having 666 on her ticket asked for a pass to be substituted for a ticket.

"A lot of people have asked what the numbers mean, some said it seemed odd, some said it was inappropriate," said theater employee Erica Diaz.

The movie, which opened Wednesday, is a bloody depiction of Christ's final hours and crucifixion.

oh god. people really need to get over it. 666, while it may have various historical and biblical connotations, occurs right after 665 damn near every time..so its going to be seen around once in awhile.

suck it up folks. as freud would say, sometimes a banana is just a banana.

I'm really sick of hearing about this damn movie. ITS A MOVIE! There has been so much bullshit going around about it just because its a film about Jesus. If you don't want to see Jesus, DON'T GO TO THE FUCKING MOVIE AND COMPLAIN BECAUSE YOU'RE JEWISH.

Sorry, I just had to vent on stupid people.

My bus driver is so fucking hard core christain, if she got one of those tickets she'd be like omg god hates me, what have i done?

It ticks me off that people completely rely on a force that possibly never existed. Well atleast I dont like the idea that i am not in control of my life, yet i do believe there was a god and christ. If you say god helped me get through this inccident, and then you look down and you drive off a bridge (assuming you were on the bridge) and die. Was that because god was tieing his shoe, cause he hates you, or because you just had to turn the radio on?

God isn't responsible for EVERYTHING. If I decide to eat a sandwich instead of a salad, it's my choice. Nobody said all Christians belive that God controls us.

Same as what Aztec said...everyone is in control of your their life. Nobody stops you from doing anything.

And I'm sorry, but how can you say a force that never really existed? Even if you don't believe in God or Jesus, and you're not Christian or anything branched from it, you still must believe in something higher than us.

Oh really? Ever heard of "Athiest"?

I'm quite close to it.

The only thing that arises some negative emotion in me is when an extrememly religious person goes through something tragic, and then they say that it must of been god's will. I mean, c'mon, can't you build up the inner strength just to admit that something horrible has happened, and not blame it on some omnipresent power?

I just seem to look at the entire subject and say, "Who am i to determine if a god exists?"

^^^Finally someone who has similar views as me^^^ (1024 in case a post was made before this one)

I'm not gonna go deep into how I see religion because I'll just get flamed like I did in that other thread a long time ago.

...actually I'm not gonna go into it at all. I just like to believe I'm the one controling my life and everything that happens in life isn't due to a higher power wanting it to happen. If someone dies, a religious person will say "Well...God must have had a plan for them." I don't know how much more obvious it can get that the person is simply trying to ease the pain of losing someone by saying "They're in a better place."

Anyway, people need to loosen up. It's a MOVIE. If a priest were to walk into church with a shirt that has a giant red 666 on it, it still really wouldn't be worth complaining about but it has a little more justification to doing so than a movie ticket.

Get-Over-It.

I'm christian and whatnot, I don't go to church though, I do think it is VERY strange that 2 people were struck by lightning while filming, one of them holding the cross I believe, and neither of them died.

*ahem*

I believe you are the one controlling your life and that a higher power is wanting or pushing you into certain ways....and I'm pretty religious.

Non-religious people seem to look at only certain sects: Catholic priests etc.

I don't care if you believe in God or not, and unlike other religious people, I won't press you about it. I strive to be informed religiously, not just some mindless follower, who, because his/her parents are religious, they have to be. I chose at one point in my life this path.
