The enigma machine is always interesting. Nobody ever writes about that even though it was a major player in the war.

Operation Bodyguard. The planning and deception that pretty much caused the success of d-day.
or something less common like something in North Africa or Italy

Zee Battle of Zee Bulge?
EDIT: Does it have to be about an operation/battle? Because the whole nazi cult stuff is pretty interesting

write about that sargent....i cant remember, but he had his own movie, he was the most decorated soldier in world war 2.
EDIT Audie Murphy, i was confusing him with that Danly Dan guy, from world war 1, he was a platoon sargent, awesome guy, well, his name was something like danly dan.
but, if the paper can be about anything war, id suggest writing about the first major battle in VeitNam, at LZ Xray, you know, they made it into a movie, We Were Soldiers (book came first of course.)
both stories involve great men.
no it can be about anything about WW2 darkbayne

El Alamein?
Iwo Jima?
the 2 nukes?
how pearl harbor wasn't supposted to be a secret attack, and how they attacked like 5 other bases that same day?
battle of britain. done to death but shows what a people can and will do when their backs are against the wall, and showed what a tiny island can do that all of europe couldnt.
or, you could write a fictional version of what could and would have happened if the a-bombs werent used or the nazis would have developed it first. at least then you aren't burdened by facts. ;)

The spy that convinced Hitler not to send the Panzer (Tiger?) division to whatever part of Normandy Operation: Overlord was ment for, and how one of Hitler's best generals wanted those tanks there.

In my history course we did so much on WWII, there's so much scope for essays. Communism, what led Hitler to war. The rise of the Nazis. It's really good, just think of something that caught your imagination when doing the course, and let them words-a-flow.
