Just spent the weekend in colorado and had a blast. Granted it was a little cold for my tastes but I had fun. Went snow boarding for the first time on monday and damn am I sore. every single muscle (including ones I didn't know I had) hurt like hell. But I had lots of fun falling down the mountain :D seriously at like 10,000ft up I couldn't catch my breath for anything. even walking to the damn lift got me winded. I don't know what they breathe but there but it sure as hell ain't oxygen because my lungs couldnt find any.
Boulder (where I stayed) is a cool town (college town) lots of hot women :brow: but also a lot god damned hippies. went to Ft. collins for a bit which is more spread out and country like with a few more rednecks (ahh like home). all in all had a blast but its good to be home to sea level and 70 degree weather.
(and damn they sure do love john elway over there)

I lived at the 9600 foot mark for a while, under the mighty shadow of Mount Niwot. When the wind blew off it, it would carry enough snow to make a good foot or so of snowfall, under blue skies. What a cool place.
The property also came with its own mountain, a meager 10,400 feet... Mount Grassy Top.
Living on a ghost town, exploring abandoned gold mines and attending a party at the town's fire department that featured the passing of the "pill tray" (which I missed) and enough mushrooms to get Alice lost in.
Colorado does indeed rock.
The scary thing, though, is that town (Ward) still had a law on the books that levied a $10 fine for killing a ********.
And don't get me started on the lack of guard-rails on the roads. Depends undergarments might get you an insurance break while driving around up there, if only for the cost of cleaning the car seats when the wind kicks out your traction ten feet from a 1,500 foot drop-off into icy death.

Snowboarders suck, they push all the good snow off so the skiiers are left with crap

On the contrary i think thats bullshit. If you look its skiers who actually do that. Skiers are the ones that make moguls, a snowboard cant make a turn thats able to make moguls. And when a snowboarders is stopping, unless they have very sharp edges, they are actually spreading the snow out. So its not snowboarders who make ice. The weight of a snowboarder is more distributed on the snowboard since it is larger, but on skis the weight is less distributed allowing for more pushing power creating ice.
BTW: I am a snowboarder.

As a skier....I can tell you Snow Boarders are responsible for the ice...well a certain group of snowboarders. Get out on the morning lift and fly down a mountain with grace. Later in the day, make a turn and SSSKKSKRRKRKRKKKRRRRRREEEAAEEEAAAEECCHHCCHCHCHCHCh and then I hit this giant PPPPHHPPHHHPHPOOOOOFFFFFF at the base (almost stoping my ski's and sending me do discover inertia)...and I say WTF?!
Then I observed, its not the "REAL" snowboarders, they actually go down similar to a skier....but the "FAD" snowboarders...well....they get to the top of a steep incline and go straight down...with thier board flat against the mountaing like mini-snowplow. If your not good enough to take the incline straight, then you shouldn't be going down it.

Actually the skiers dont make the moguls, who ever runs the mountain puts them in certain spots specifcally. Also, the snowboard has a much larger area, true, but it also disturbs more snow, and therefore making the mountian more uneven.

obivously you don't go skiing often. Moguls normally come from leaving powder trails ungroomed for long periods of time. I've watched moguls build up over a few days from this. There are also artifical moguls that look abnormally even in size and symmetric. These are man made and are rare but fun to ski on.

Dude the best skiing is later in the day. If you have problems with ice your probauly not carving hard enough. Put more pressure on the out side ski and simply push through it. You want about 70% pressure on outside and 30% on inside in case you loose the outside from what ever. Well I guess it depends, if your an east coast skier like me you gotta learn to love the ice but I guess if your doing it more outwest its almost a completely different sport.

Obviously you dont know me very well. I go skiing very often, and I can tell you that when the majority of moguls are in the same pre-designated areas every time, the company that owns the mountain is putting them there, or setting something up so they do end up there. Most natural moguls appear on steeper slopes anyways.

Not much of a snow guy...since i'm on a mountain thats right next the the coast and the last big snow here was like 8 years ago when i was 6 (like the only time it snowed for 3 days strait, and it started on my bday, how ironic)....
But it be sweet taking a truck with bigass snow tires through snow. Or those Snow Mobiles or whatever you call em, i wants to ride one.

okay I going skiing at least 25 times a year and yes like I said some are artifically made but not many. The vast majority of them come from leaving trails ungroomed for long periods of time. The machine made ones are usually are perfect, they're all equal and size, shape, and distance. The natural ones are all different in all these characteristics. You can see a big difference between these two and on the mountain I ski at, Sugarloaf and somtimes Sunday river the man made ones are an extremely rare find.

I can't tell if thats sarcasism or not cuz its just text but the trail maps seem like they look like pretty decent places. I've only be out west once so I don't know much about the skiing over there. So if those places are good or not I have no clue
