Anytime you are refering to someone you do it in third person .
That statement refers to her as a noun using a possessive adjective. I hate English.

have you considered becoming an american citizen? we've conquered alot more then canada. actually, I have a friend who has a dual-citizenship, he has a passport for both the US and mooseland.
Hamma
2004-03-04, 06:27 PM
This is the start of that process.. it takes 5 years to become a citizen you know. Lots of red tape, more than I have ever seen before. You can't just walk in and become a citizen
Hmm, that's what I did... should be fine. *Checks window for the INS*

If they get married in this country, she becomes and american citizen automatically. You may not even need the visa. You probly could have gotten hitched showed the papers and gotten her instant citizenship.

hehe guess yall didn't know that huh... Us military boys always get warned about the girls trying to get hitch just to get a free ride in.

I believe you still have to do paperwork even if you get married to a citizen in this country. It's not all simple, 5 minute stuff you know.

Nah believe me it dosent work that way .. Hamma and i looked into it .. we would still have to file for the visa even if we got married down here.. getting married to a citizen dosent make you a citizen ..Now in theroy here .. if i was to have his child he/she would automatically be a citizen due to the fact that his father would be American. But hamma is right it takes about 5 years ..and lots of red tape :(

Actually, jen can't become an american citizen for 14 years. Then she takes a test on American history and government, and if she passes, she's in. Then she can vote and all that stuff.

Not true its 3 years when you are married, 5 if you are in solo. I dunno where that 14 came from :p
Either way its not as easy as just "Getting hitched" anymore. I wish it was because this thread would not exist :p

Damn USA.........damn you to hell for all of this trouble. Im never moving to the states now.....oh wait...I'm from PA....nevermind what I said...

Well It's does take that long for the citizenship. But with the getting hitched thing, That means she can't be deported as easily. She can stay in the States with you, but has to work at getting a citizenship. She still has to aquire a Visa, but she can stay here until then without being thrown out. Being thrown out hardly happens anyway. I mean come on Callie was trying to get drivers liscenses then allow voting for non-citizens.
As with ait and sly they tell us Military guys to watch that.
Edit:almost forgot.......G/L jenny. Hope everything works out for the two of you.
May your love be as plentiful and never ending as the ceaseless expanses of the universe.
