Empire Strikes Back.

Episode I and II had great fight scenes, but they don't make up for the rest of the crap.

IMO episode II had the worst storyline, but best fight scenes. I liked episode I simply because of the last jedi fight with darth maul and the like.

A new hope was cool but not good enough to garner more than a thirdish finish

empire was actually my least favorite for a while until i saw it a few more times it ranks up there now.

the phantom menace because its newer witch means its got better visual arts and has a good story line. attack of the clones had a bad story line, but good fight scenes

EP 1 was cheesy with the kid, but i relativly liked it for some damn reason it reminded me of Ender. And darth Maul was fuckin awsome
EP 2 could have been better, but it told or atleast gave you alot of refrence about what happened/whats going to happen.
New Hope was ok, was a basic movie
Empire Strikes back...hard to say, i cant say i liked it but i cant say i didn't either.
Return of Jedi was pretty good, Leia in a bikini and ewokes fuckin pwning stormtroopers, could it get any better?

My pick, Ep 1. The pod racing was pretty kool too and Obi Wan was pretty kool, alittle gay, but pretty kool

I don't consider Episodes 1 and 2 to be movies, rather essays in the madness and greed of old man Lucas.

Where is the Star Wars sucks option?

The original movie was completely astounding. It took movies to a whole new level. The special affects were light years above anything else done at that time. The plot and story were great as well.

So in my not so humble star wars opinion ... definitely the first one. I saw it in the movie theaters and it still gives me goose bumps. The last two movies aren't even worth mentionning. They all were shiite. There is no character development at all. Each of them are cookie cutouts of a boring character.

For plot and acting? Any one of the 2nd trilogy beat both Episode 1 and 2 hands down, which is sad because Mark Hamil was a main character but them perhaps he was offset by Harrison Ford. Natalie Portman is a talented actress as are a few of the others. When there's a main character is either a god awfully annoying CG or a angst ridden teenage pretty boy though, there's just not much you can do to save it.

For death and duels? Episode 1 and 2 kick the crap out of the 2nd trilogy. There's just no comparison. The fights in the final three movies are rather limited in scope. If they were remade today, sure, they might be better. But for the love of all that is holy, don't give Lucas any more ideas.

Vader/Skywalker duels were pathetic compared to both of the climactic duels from the prequels. It's just that it really sucks having to sit through an hour and a half of what pretty much amounts to crap just to get to those duels.

Um its a first of its kind back then, you think they had computer animation back then.....well they did, but not good.

Why does the first Matrix pwn the other two? It was first of its kind. You already know what kinda moves they are going to pull in the other two.

Sayin Ep 1-2 is awsomer than the originals back in the 70s (right?) because of the fight scenes, in my book, doesn't count.

watch a few old black and white samurai movies, like the 7 samurai, or something of that such, the fight scenes were good

but then again, i liked the original star was saber duels.

Bugger, they didn't pull the moves in the orginals they pulled in the prequels because they couldn't (or maybe just didn't know how yet), so your Matrix analogy doesn't really work. I do agree that there was more of a "wow" factor in watching the original Matrix but the second and third installments did have some better action scenes. However it's just like you were getting at, they weren't as impressive because they didn't go very far past what the original Matrix had. Now when you're talking Star Wars not only did they have some more interesting action sequences in the prequels, there had been monumental improvments in special effects and the techniques used so they were able to go far beyond what the original trilogy was able to do.

This isn't saying the action in those movies wasn't astounding for their time. The reality is that Lucas made leaps in the field of special effects with those movies. Does that mean that the sequences from the original three movies should be considered better than those of the prequels simply because they were unbeliveably great for 20 years ago compared to the prequels which were only great by todays standards? No, of course not, because they aren't better. The best f/x from 20 years ago doesn't compare with something that's even moderatly well done today. The same is true for many things.

I never said the prequels are "awsomer" than the originals. What I said was: For plot and acting I'll take the originals. For action sequences, the prequels have far outdone the original three. What it boils down to imo is what do you enjoy more, the plotline or the ass-kicking.

For me, I enjoy both, so I enjoy watching all of them.

In Jedi it became almost cartoonish. I mean, the Stormtroopers went from being incredbile soldiers to morons who couldn't shoot straight. The Ewoks and 5 or 6 rebels fought and beat a whole platoon or two of stormtroopers. What the fuck? Credibility was lost.

I think that was after Lucas either a) went mad or b) burned himself out hardcore on drugs.

The rape of ep. 4,5 and 6 with his new "additions" is what may earn him a trip to director's hell.

Greedo shooting first is one of the weakest things I've ever seen in a movie.
