The tower layout needs to change. Its easy to corner the spawn room and all its content off by getting tanks to shoot through the opened doors. With this in place, you can just walk up to the cc and hack it. The cc needs to be moved below the spawn room so you can defend it.
The problem is easy to solve - Put an L-shaped turn before getting into the current area of the tower. Vehicles can still spam, but be much less effective at it.

Personally I like having the cc and tubes in different areas. Defenders cannot just zerg randomly out of the tubes to defend effectivly.

I agree with this idea. IMHO, towers would be a lot cooler if they had 1-2 less levels and more intricate architecture, which would hopefully make them easier to defend. As it is, once a tower is sorrounded by vehicles, its gone.

Funny, I never have a problem hugging the inside walls and NOT opening the doors. It's you other pathetic fools with no common sense who get yourselves (and me) killed. My mamma used to tell me, if it's raining, don't go outside.
If there's Vanguards shelling, don't open the fucking doors.

First, put ONE door one flight up with a surrounding blast shield (add stairs for egress). Second, move the CC INTO the spawn room. Finally, add a bunker like opening for troops to shoot out (still can be suppressed by tanks/reavers). Would make a lot more sense than the current design. Also, they would still be vunerable from above.

there are some pics of the cc being in the spawn room of the towers in the planetside guide book, but the towers need a redesigning now.

and yeah the only thing that needs changing is they need to cut it down to one door that can't spam into the hallways with tank fire and the such with (maybe make them a little wider so doors open towards a wall).

was thinking it was in beta, but since i wasn't in beta, i didn't want to say it was in fear of being incorrect :P

Imo if a tower is surrounded with vechs it deserves to be taken and all the people inside deserve to die repeatedly.
Decon. Get tanks. Get aircraft. Dont expect to stumble out ouf your spawn tube and be safe forever from tanks and never have to bother checking the cc.
Remember overpowered defense is a bad thing just as it is underpowered.

They need a way to shut down spawn at the tower from the outside. Something like a nano-dish with 100,000 hit points.
Tower battles are up there with Surge as the poorest designed elements of the game. A tower should not be harder to capture than a whole base.

You guys have to remember these bases and towers were designed from a civilian PoV. The TR did not expect an uprising, causing their members to split to two new empires. They put guns and whatnot on the walls to suppress small rebel bands.
What PS needs is new buildings built by the 3 empires. Military buildings ment for defense.

Yeah, as true as that is, it dosen't make for fun gameplay. I personaly don't care what fits in with the story of planetside. I just want it to be fun.

Two things. 1st yes the tower layout needs to be bigger with bigger stairwells and bigger area. 2nd you need to learn how to spell design.

i think towers are fine. just dont be a dumbass and walk by the doors so they open when a tank is shelling the tower. stay on the inside wall it works.

Exactly... No. 1 rule of tower defense = Let them come to you!
When there are tanks outside a tower, theyr'e gonna be waiting for someone to pop their head out of the door, barrel in their face, and *boom* one less defender.
It's a test of patience, but overall, the tanks can't be effective if they have nothing to attack...
Sorry for my bad spelling/grammar/whatever(Come on, it's a damn rarity from me!), I havent slept, and I feel kinda funky...

But the thing is, its the people that think they can take a tank head on, opening the doors doming everyone else. The towers need a new layout so even if the doors are open, tank fire wont block the stairs.

Yes i think they shudnt have the stair way exposed to door tank campers!
Maybe put an extra coridoor runnin round the outside so they cant

Seriously, what is wrong with camping a tower door/stairway in a vehicle? While doing so you are a stationary target, easy to jammer, and through pattern recognition and intelligince, can be easily avoided.
If you are trapt in a tower, decon and get tanks. If there is nowhere to get armor from, then you are probably pretty screwed anyway on that cont, recall to sanc, go to the neares cont wg, bind at the base near there and roll tanks out of the base on the other side.
If they take the tower by stratigically seperating the spawn room from the cc for long enough to hack it, then they did a good job and you did not get tanks soon enough/ you were doomed anyway.
Towers are a defensive installation, however that does not mean they should be impassible fortesses only takeable with 4 simultanious gal drops and 40-50 infantry rushing the bottom.
CCs used to be in the spawn room.
It was impossible to take the towers. I'd rather not see that again.
